Probably due to copyright they cant use the same "old" design.

If that is the case it's a damn shame. You'd think the club owned the design of their jersey.

I think there's a bit of double-standards when it comes to this. I remember reading a few years ago that the NRL told the Knights they couldn't revert their jerseys to their old design. A season or two later, Cronulla were approved to wear their old design as their main jersey.

Penrith wore their retro brown and white jersey for a couple of games in 2006. Newcastle have worn their heritage jersey a few times before.

Sorry, I meant on a permanent basis, not just a game or two per season.

Panthers look best in the lighter brown and white. They could still have had the "tight fit" look and new material but the choco soldiers should run out in their old school jersey.

sort of ironic that they were so desperate to get rid of the brown

and now brown is quite fashionable.

penrith haven't had a good strip since DAHDAH was on the front.

I think it depends who manufacturers were and so forth as to whether old jerseys can be re-designed and adapted to modern times.

Intricate designs I could see that as a problem (eg: Wests Tigers jerseys for the past few years), but for simple designs ('V's, horizontal stripes, ect) ...? I wouldn't have thought so (just a guess though).

It would have more to do with cross-company changes i.e. Classic to Nike or Canterbury to ISC etc... that's where it would come from... all based on $$$ instead of tradition.

I agree. I personally think it's the best-looking jersey they've ever had. I am also a fan of their 1991-1996 style jersey.

Simplicity is the best way to go IMO. I like their new one visually.

That seems to be the go at the tigers.
A simple jersey design .. designed by a simple primary school dropout at TAFE based on the jersey design of the suburb in australia with the highest per capita concentration of simpletons.

THey take this further by employing a simpleton defensive coach (from said area) and a simpleton recruitment manager who gives his mongoloid simpleton son a 3 year contract

On top of all this we have a simpleton CEO who takes 5c up front in january for whoring games out rather than do what gives the team the best chance of making the semis (ie playing home games at proper home grounds like 99.99% of teams in world sport) including one that might clash with a sheffield shield game between dirk tazelaar's NSW speed bomb blues and the bendigo bushwhackers meaning a 5th home ground for 12 home games (working out at an average of 2.4 games per home ground)

You are right todger .. 2008 is the year of simplicity and/or the simpleton

To bad Balmain Sold out and didn't choose to fight for Survival. They would of been celebrating 100 years celebrations as the Balmain Tigers.
Oh well.

Too bad the NRL didn't let Souths just die a natural death which would have happened anyway, we wouldn't have to put up with $hit stirrers like you.

I still reckon with the 100 year celebration all teams should have reverted to their retro jersey for this season at least. They just look plain better IMO.
