Regardless of a new coach, the lack of any prominent players likely to take up a contract with dragons is obvious. The brand has become toxic unfortunately. Any important improvements next year in the way of results will be minimal. I hope i am proven wrong. The dead wood like Bird need to be gone yesterday.
I fear you are right for 2024. Wish Ben the sook would put a sock in it.

100%. The warning signs to the club were there 3 years with BBQ gate. They did nothing about the culture issues then around the disrespect for authority we had, except thinking sacking Vaughan would solve it all. Haran was in his first year or so as GM.
Still baffles me how he worked his way up to that role with minimal experience handling players in any capacity in coaching, recruiting or managing, especially the tough cookie of dealing with PM's. Doust, Young, Millward have all tried and failed over the past 12 years.
5 years ago + Haran was interviewing players for the media team.
It frustrates the hell out of me how our club has walked pass aiming to be a real professional outfit.
And this is why I wonder if this whole Hunt debacle is aimed at changing this. Maybe he thought Hook was angling to get these changes in motion and hence the Hook support. It's just unfortunate that Hook didn't have the coaching ability to get a bit more out of the team in the meantime.

He/She is right though - it was Mann. I got it wrong - was typing Mann and listened to my silly husband lol. Back to the topic, that was a heartbreaking game. Its hard to bail out in finals after getting so excited. The Brisbane game prior was fantastic. Yeah Reynolds punished us with his boot that night. Was that the night that Widdop also did his shoulder again ?
Not to mention Reynolds kicked more field goals in that match than our “marquee halfback” has kicked in his whole NRL career. Swap halfbacks in that game and we win. 5 years later Hunt is still screwing us over.

He really has to go , and it will happen at the right time ...... If Flanno is holding on , that it will all smooth over and things improve a little here and there that Mr Hunt will have a change of heart , it ain't happening ....... Also he should be stripped of the captaincy , how can he be captain of a team that he doesn't want to be at ?...... But the captain thing is on Flanno as I read somewhere that Benny boy was happy to give that up ...... Doesn't that tell you something ?????

I'm getting sick the death with the Hunt saga. I have no idea how Flanno is not blowing up with media licking it's lips every time Hunts speaks to them.

He told Ben he isn't being released and I think it's time to ask Ben to reflect on his management to why the "other" teams deal fell through.

I don't know if a like for like transfer can be done however and we may see some left field swaps as I don't think he can be here next year.

I cannot believe that Reynolds was worried about his position that he "might be gone" during the Hunt to Broncos noise. Reynolds is so much better

It is of course no excuse for how Hunt has been going on, because it does bring the club into disrepute, but I think he has a good reason to, as really, we all can see that the whole of the people running the club has brought our club into disrepute not only Hunt.

These people who hold the top positions and make the big decisions are totally inept and when a guy like Haran is employed to do a job like football department manager and has a hand in the recruiting it is like getting the cadet to take charge of a battalion in the arena of a war. Just like they need to put the right type of player in the respective positions, they need to have the right people who have knowledge and ability to be part of the administration of the footy team and a guy that is good at spotting talent and being able to recruit that talent by shrewd negotiating is essential. So there, that is what the job description should be.

AJ Brimson is the obvious one for a Hunt Swap (doesnt have a starting spot).. maybe we can snag a junior to go with him, but I dont think Hasler is going to give up anyone of legit value (like your Tino, Fifita, Campbell etc), if Boyd is on the outer.. particulary given they r signing hunt... maybe we could jag him.. but I think he just resign'ed also.. like gould says, a club really does need 3 halves in their system.

Now that this meeting that Flanagan has arranged with Hunt has been made public and Hunt hasn't any idea why, we should find out what it is all about in the next few days. Should be very interesting to hear/see what develops.
