Like 1999 GF, it still not in bag!!
Shane Flanagan’s NRL coaching exile is over with the Dragons board agreeing to offer the premiership winning mentor a deal to become their next coach.
St George Illawarra’s board met on Tuesday morning to decide between Flanagan, Ben Hornby and Dean Young.
In the end they went with experience with board members putting aside their potential angst surrounding Flanagan’s appointment to offer him the position.
It was a unanimous decision.
The Dragons will now have to negotiate terms with Flanagan before the deal is officially announced.
Provided there is no last minute breakdown in talks, Flanagan will take up his duties at St George Illawarra next year.
It is expected to be at least a three year contract.

Doubt it, but I reckon a deal was done.someone locked Doust in a cupboard during voting!
Surely they would not be so underhanded to vote the man in , only to offer him a salary half of which was offered to Ryles , that being $ 400,000 - would they ? ?So… the board have given permission to Webb to sign Flanno. Rather than it being a done deal???
It's just you. In fairness to the Board, nothing has been announced yet, so far as I can tell. All we have is what appears to be a leak.Jesus.. is it just me, or is it amateurish (bordering on negligent) to announce the coach you want, before signing them?
My made up guess it will be with the condition Young and Hornby are his sidekicks ......Doubt it, but I reckon a deal was done.
My totally made up guess is that the 3 year Chair deal is off the table now and Doust will be Chair in 2024.
A leak is just as amateurish. It's just you. In fairness to the Board, nothing has been announced yet, so far as I can tell. All we have is what appears to be a leak.
