Gould seems adamant Ryles not coming which would make Hornby the Smokey…
I like the early signs of Carr but we would struggle to attract players w him at the helm..I guess Hornby would struggle as well….
It’s a wait and see game..
I wouldn’t believe anything that Phil Gould says, as he denied all last year that the Bulldogs were speaking to any potential coaching targets to replace Barrett.
He’s all Smoke & mirrors and the master of telling porkies.

What is also interesting,is the story claiming Jason Ryles wants Shane Millard on his team as an Assistant Coach.
Just so happens that Millard is currently Head Coach of the Bulldogs Academy & Pathways system, which I understand is doing incredibly well.
Maybe Gus, doesn’t want to lose the bloke in charge of the next wave of developed talent within the Dogs.
Create some BS spin & hope the target shifts!
No no no Gussy!

Gus and Ciraldo have been totally shameless in their carve up of the panthers.

Choppng through their squad meat cleavers.

The panthers are patsys.

Saints have plenty of good choices for coaches at the moment in Ryles, Hornby, Hasler, Flanno and Maguire. Would anyone really be too upset if any of these guys got the nod compared to what they had for the last 12 seasons? The only guy I think the fans will be upset about is Young, only because he has had the least success in his apprenticeship than Hornby or Ryles. If the Cowboys were flying this year maybe a different story but it is clear that last year they over achieved. Copping 66 points against the last placed Tigers and being the defence coach really would not look good on your resume. They have been awful this year.

I know Ryles has not been to much better at the Chooks this season, but has been in a system that won comps in the Storm which edges out Hornby and especially Young. The other 3 experience coaches speak for themselves. If Saints get anyone else out of the 5 good candidates then that would be crazy.

The processes that the Dragons are going through must be done with so much due diligence. Of course they will want the best person to take the reins of coaching the Dragons. Before they got rid of Hook they surely must have had a plan in place and a couple of contenders in mind to replace Hook. They realise that the new contenders must be the ones to really be able to lift the club out of the dungeon and maintain regular seasonal success.

As Ryles himself has been reported as saying - He said that he wants the Dragons to take positive steps to ensure the club will be successful for years to come as in the DUB888 post above. I have been stressing this for ages now. This isn't a band aid fix anymore, it has to be water tight without any chance of any leaks.

We get Ryles, Richardson and Brown and we will have the nucleus of a strong rugby league team and club. The Board will be wanting this to go with the opening of the new C of E. If they cannot get this in place then, the club might as well fade into oblivion.

Ryles gets ‘cold feet’ over switch as Dragons pursuit stalls amid top target’s ‘concerns’

For all this article is worth , which is not much , I tend to agree, my thoughts have been that we need a GM and R+R as an absolute must. In this point in time with the way the Dragons as a club are they need to be the upper echelon of positions with very experienced people. Right now they are probably more important than the coaches position. I dont blame Ryles for balking when he dosent know who is at the top in support staff. And as for our billionaire owner who is desperate to win a premiership, mate, you better start forking out the kitchen sink to get Richo to the Dragons like right now and stop going the cheap by having numpties in roles they know nothing about.

Apparently the Dragons have signed a gold medal winning rugby union star to the NRLW team. Maybe that is Soward's huge news.

I agree that Ryles should get some autonomy over whom he picks as his assistants; however, even as the basket case of a club we are, we also can't just give the keys over to the head coach. Honestly, I think the head coach isn't the priority. While no coach certainly impacts our ability to attract and retain players, the bigger picture needs to be looked at.

I dont know Dave, there are many rumors and deals and so forth who knows now, and maybe thats the place the Dragons wanted to be in without disclosing who the coach is going to be. But above all else

"They also have the influence of WIN and billionaire owner Bruce Gordon at their disposal – the media baron is known to be desperate to see the club challenge for a title"

You are joking surely, with the way the Gordons have funded and treated this club and yet calling us a power club to be able to fight with the elite, now I know for a fact that was a BS article.
Spider said last year at the RedV meeting that WIN had been bailing out the Dragons in the past and helped them turn things around financially .
