No doubt Hasler can coach, but doesn't he have a history of completely and utterly trashing club finances/salary cap/budgets - by buying players (they cant really afford) with back loaded contracts etc etc applicable after he has left ??? e.g. the bulldogs taking years to get back on some sort of track
I know this has happened at other clubs, but as I said in a previous post there can be processes put in place to manage the cap without him being given a total free reign. I'm sure he would like to concentrate on more TPA's to get what he wants. If he gets the job I'm more than willing to give him every chance just like I did with Hook.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - throw everything at Bellamy.

C'mon Gordon time to fork out some $$$$.

We would instantly become a top 8 team next year and vying for a premiership in 2025.

It's not that hard.
I would love it to mate, but I dont think he will backflip on giving Melbourne what they want, he has nothing more to prove, meanwhile Hasler is a free agent, good to go. I did have an interesting thought thou, has anybody heard from any of the so called candidates to see if they really want the job, any of them ?

Once the new Head Coach has been chosen and is appointed, it would be good if we did see a list of actual applicants/interviewees and what they said about whether they were wanting or not wanting to come to coach at the club.

I am all for Hasler for 2 years and Ryles to take over. Nathan Brown definitely for recruitment. He has the best eye for talent I believe and built most of that roster for Wayne to polish off and give us a premiership in 2010.

They have already got 2 Manly juniors and have spoken to Scott Fulton for the recruitment role so I feel it is already Hasler and they are just going through the motions before they announce that they will be on board.

Something very interesting about Des Hasler, before he had the big fall out with owner Scott Penn, was he had to submit a succession plan for him to step back and handover the reigns in 2025.
Hasler was keen on anointing Josh Hannay as the best candidate to replace him. But the club wanted Anthony Seibold and didn’t take a backward step.
Hasler has a high opinion of Josh Hannay, just like Billy Slater does and is his QLD Origin Assistant.
Now that would make a good double act at the RedV and have some player appeal.

I just hope the board can reach an agreement next tuesday and then go hard after the agreed target . We need an announcement sooner than later so that new coach can begin recruiting . Id be happy for des for 2 years with a succession plan and if scott fulton comes over as recruitment an added bonus , get crusher out of retirement also ..
be nice to see the players pull their fingers out knowing we have a real coach

Why does Bellamy keep coming up as an option? He just signed an extension with Melbourne for 5 years in 2022. If he stops coaching, he moves into a director role. There’s zero chance he will break his contract, especially to come to the mess we have. If he wants to keep coaching it will be with them. I’m sure Ryles is holding out for that that gig and with Bellamy helping from the directors chair, he’d be wise to as well.

I personally think Hasler for a couple of years with a handover plan to either Hannay or Hornby would be the best realistic option we have.

Dragons coaching was discussed again at NRL 360.

1. The boared apparently approached Billy Slater today and he told them "Not Interested".
2. It was also discussed that Shane Flanagan who took over Sharks when they were 14th and took them to permiership maybe the best option, but apparently Peter Doust is against hiring him.
3. It was also mentioned that the coaching appointment must be unanimous.

Two Albion park girls go round the outside
Round the outside, round the outside
Two Albion park girls go round the outside
Round the outside, round the outside

Guess who's back?
Back again
Dousty’s back
It’s a trend

Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
Guess who's back?

We’ve created a monster
'Cause nobody wants Benji Marshall no more
They want Dousty, but he don’t deliver

Well, if you want success, this is what he’ll give ya
Mediocrity mixed with Crown Lager liquor

Cold pies that'll jump start your heart quicker
Than a shock when we lose to the Titans at the last ticker
By the slack board who are not co-operating
We’re at the bottom of the table while he's out networking

We’ve waited too long, now stop debating
Dousty’s back, we’re in the red rag and capitulating
Hook’s still got a job, Tis frustrating
But the payout problem's complicating

So the NRL won't let us be
Or let us be me, so let me see
They try to talk us up on WIN TV
But it feels so empty, with Dousty

3. Good luck with that one

If the reports are true re Slater its got me buggered why he was approached......hes had a first up Origin series win with Qld with a team full of stars but its a bit different scenario coaching our mob in the NRL comp.....would have been a NO from me
