I just don't want to lose Smith. We need him around SSO,his leadership ect. But you cannot stop him if he wants to go. If he is to play with another club, then we must be compensated by that club, in cash, no swaps. Especially Tinkler. Please Sharks let's play hard ball on this.

Lewis>jez. Love jez, but Lewis is better IMO.

It's also clear to me we are just not cutiey enough to ever win a premiership.

Smith was patchy this year.

Great some games.

Not sighted others.

Has he peaked?

Or he needs freshening up - Flannos Churchillian speeches not doing it for him no more?

I don't know if I hate us or not. On the one hand jezza has been good for us, and the club seems to be doing the right thing by him.

But we all know where nice guys finish.

We know how good Smith has been but it comes down to how we lost Snowy . Why can't we be hard about dollars, jeez we have been without for so long you would think it would be part of our make up? Management should harden up, we don't want to Fu$&/- over again by Tinkler, we cannot afford it.

I appreciate all that, but what potential damage would there be with an unhappy player in the ranks if we play hard ball?

Do you believe Penrith have made a screw up releasing Lewis like they did?

I do agree with you in part, you don't just give your pquality players away.

Are you thinking if we didn't get a player we should have at least received a $$$ payment - On that level, I would be with you 100%

Dont agree with that.
Hard ball is how it should be, however , there is a person involved here in Jez. & he has been fantastic for us.
I would do a conditional release. Play for anybody except Newcastle, a key competitor for us next year.
that gives him 14 other options.

Differnet styles of players.
Smith has the best defense, but not much in the attack department.
Toops & Lewis are great in the defense area, but offer much more in attacking skills.

I'd disagree. Smith is IMO the smartest player on the field, and a far better ball player than any other forward on our books (aside from Lewis).

It's an odd situation, especially when it was Bennett that wouldn't offer Smith a 3 year deal to stay at the Dragons.

I disagree on the hard ball stance. I don't have a great deal of faith in the "modern day playing group". If we played hard ball, I would suspect that would get around inner circles and may affect future player negotiations.

At the end of the day, I don't care who is wearing our jersey from 1-17, unlike the old days of Chris Gardner,Steve Edmonds, Rick Bourke, Greg Pierce - Local Heroes.

Actually, when was the last time a club refused to release a player?

MPW this year.
SBW 4 years ago.
Steve Turner came very close but the Titans got 2 players(juniors) from Storm in compensation.
Tallis St George 1998?

Just for starters.

My opinion.

Alpha male, same position issue. Jezz did play 13 too me.

I wish the man the best, if he is to go.

Still say Gallen needs to mature and play left, not centre, so disagree with many.

How Gallen left and Lewis right, with young Wade floating is not attractive I am unsure.

Suits us NSW and AUS.......

Time for Gallen to get smart.

Makes as much sense as Jeff Robson not making a meter in 80 minutes.

Jez is asking for a release to play for the knights due to his misses having family up that way, yet you tell him to play for a team say like Penrith.

Gotcha
