R/AsablackmanLool cool story. Just one problem, I’m half African you dumb merkin.
I agree, I can't believe it, because it's just not true. The same as Mam. Victim mentality. Soft as f**k. You can’t believe a POC has a view point different to yours.
Context I guess. On a footy field it's not too much of a leap to assume if that is what he said then it was derogatory.f**k there’s some room temperature IQs in here.
Monkey is NOT a derogatory word in of itself.
The leading the prayer group thing probably puts a line through that one.No clearly he said “oh Ezra, you’re so hunky, wanna come back to the hotel with me later and get funky?”
Could be anything, doesn't have to rhyme with monkey or start with the letter M. Spencer doesn't strike me as a high quality orator. Context is also a consideration as well although I can't really see what other context he would use that word but he has a right to put his case forward.Really? You can't even come up with an example to prove your point? Now that's rubbish.
Just give me one legitimate example and I'll concede.
We've disagreed in this thread, but this is 100% on the money.Christ can’t we just all agree that if during a footy game in the middle of a verbal stoush you call an indigenous player a monkey it’s meant to be offensive? And it is offensive? There isn’t any defence I can think of and for good reason. If it’s proven he’s said it he’s gone for a few weeks. And good riddance.
Thanks for posting.Roosters prop Spencer Leniu has been embroiled in a second altercation with Broncos rival Ezra Mam as relations between the clubs hit rock bottom over the racism saga in Las Vegas.
This masthead can reveal Brisbane lock Pat Carrigan leapt to the defence of Mam after an enraged Leniu again verbally attacked the Broncos five-eighth at the Resorts World hotel at which both teams were staying.
The second Mam-Leniu stoush occurred in early hours of Sunday morning (local time), just hours after the Roosters enforcer was accused of calling the Broncos pivot a “monkey” in his side’s 20-10 victory at Allegiant Stadium.
Leniu has been formally charged by the NRL match review committee with contrary conduct and will front a judiciary hearing at League headquarters to determine his fate.
It is understood Leniu is facing an extended stint on the sidelines if found guilty, possibly up to two months, with ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys determined to take a zero-tolerance approach on racism in the code.
But the Leniu-Mam drama was not restricted to the field. It can be revealed Mam was verbally attacked for a second time by Leniu after a chance meeting between the parties that quickly became heated.
Well-placed sources say Brisbane trio Mam, Carrigan and Kotoni Staggs were returning to their rooms at Resorts World after the entire Broncos squad gathered for a meal in their team headquarters at the hotel.
The Broncos and Roosters squads were situated on the same floor of their Vegas hotel, with their respective team dining areas approximately 50 metres apart.
It is understood Staggs, Mam and Carrigan opted not to go out into the general casino floor downstairs, and also shunned alcohol, after being bitterly disappointed with Brisbane’s performance in the Roosters’ emphatic win.
As the trio began walking a long corridor to return to their rooms, they had an unexpected meeting with Leniu.
Still fired up over being placed on report for his alleged racial slur in the 69th minute of the round 1 blockbuster, Leniu first made a beeline for Staggs, who was walking slightly ahead of Mam and Carrigan.
It is understood the pair exchanged words, although at no stage was there a physical altercation.
That’s when Leniu spotted Mam and launched a tirade at the Indigenous playmaker, accusing the Broncos five-eighth of inflaming a situation that, in his eyes, should have stayed on the field.
As Leniu moved towards Mam, Carrigan jumped between the pair. A Roosters official was in the vicinity of the argument and pulled Leniu away to defuse the situation.
The Roosters forward will have a chance to tell his side of the story at the NRL’s judiciary hearing, likely to be scheduled later this week when the sides return to Australia.
Mam is standing by his version of events that he was racially abused. The 21-year-old is proud of his Indigenous heritage - he was part of an Aboriginal dance troupe that performed in traditional uniforms at Suncorp Stadium in 2021, a year before Mam made his NRL debut.
Mam’s family are advocates of First Nations rights and have played a role in the creation of the Deadly Choices program that aims to empower Indigenous people to improve their quality of life.
Mam is a Deadly Choices ambassador and is prepared to take a strong stand on racism.
Two Broncos players told coach Kevin Walters they heard the racial slur and they are prepared to back Mam’s claim at the NRL judiciary.
It is understood Broncos prop Payne Haas is one of the players who heard the Leniu comment that has sparked the latest NRL firestorm.
Walters helped console a distressed Mam in the sheds immediately after full-time and wants the NRL to come down hard on Leniu if the premiership-winning prop is found guilty of a racial slur.
My take on it watching live was that he was referring to the game itself being as a "spectacle", and not a comment in regards to this complaint. And he was urging that the show had to go on regardless, and the complaint will be dealt with accordingly post game.I thought he handled it perfectly.
It would be completely unprecedented for the referee to take action on field for an incident that he didn't observe or witness, based solely on a players word.
I think the angst is in him using the word "spectacle".
I get that you're just saying there's a possibility brother, I really do - But in my mind there is no other possible word that could have been misconstrued.Could be anything, doesn't have to rhyme with monkey or start with the letter M. Spencer doesn't strike me as a high quality orator. Context is also a consideration as well although I can't really see what other context he would use that word but he has a right to put his case forward.
I am saying it is possible not that I believe it is what happened.
That’s a take I spose. My take on it watching live was that he was referring to the game itself being as a "spectacle", and not a comment in regards to this complaint. And he was urging that the show had to go on regardless, and the complaint will be dealt with accordingly post game.
But does it really though? Things happen in the prayer room, certainly in CanberraThe leading the prayer group thing probably puts a line through that one.
Yeah its pretty obvious it happened at this point. Whether judiciary standard of proof or whatever they require will be met is another thing. It is being quite evasive though. Im sure if a Joey Manu was asked if he said a racist comment, there would be a flat denial from him.
If I did not make a racist comment in his situation, I'd absolutely tell the world that.....not leave it up in the air like Leniu did. He absolutely said it.
The pair of us double teaming Margot Robbie is also possible, cant imagine either of us would put forward a case it's something worth considering though.Could be anything, doesn't have to rhyme with monkey or start with the letter M. Spencer doesn't strike me as a high quality orator. Context is also a consideration as well although I can't really see what other context he would use that word but he has a right to put his case forward.

That was my take too. He’s been instructed to ref the game to keep it flowing and make it a good spectacle and didn’t want a prolonged stoppage interrupting it.My take on it watching live was that he was referring to the game itself being as a "spectacle", and not a comment in regards to this complaint. And he was urging that the show had to go on regardless, and the complaint will be dealt with accordingly post game.
Speak for yourself, I’d definitely consider it!!The pair of us double teaming Margot Robbie is also possible, cant imagine either of us would put forward a case it's something worth considering though.
Ezra is post pubescent, so still gets a line through it.But does it really though? Things happen in the prayer room, certainly in Canberra
Making an alt cause you're too cowardly to justify racism under your actual accountYou can call a kid a “cheeky little monkey” can’t do that with n****r or f****t.
Mams got more to worry about than imaginary racial vilification. Like his rubbish game.
