the same guide apparently has Sam Huihahau down as a recruit for the Raiders from the Rabbits

I email to the club yesterday and got a response from don furner. This signing is 100% confirmed. No idea why they haven't formally announced it though.

Sam H is a good player, but he spends too much time off the field with injury. I think South's just lost patience with trying to get him fit.

If he has a full year on the paddock, he will be knocking on the 1st grade door.

Germaine Paulson ------ > North Qld

Today's 2008 Big League review has Paulson down as a gain for North Qld for next year.

Hate to correct you here but:

On Page 64 of the Big League Season Review, Paulson is listed as going from Souths to the Cowboys. But on Page 66, Paulson is not listed as coming to the Cowboys.

So it remain to be seen.

Wests Tigers
Gains: Gareth Ellis (Leeds - 2011), Beau Ryan (Wests Magpies – 2010)

They are the only Wests Tigers signings for 2009 along with Blake Ayshford, Blake Lazarus, Peni Tagive and Wayde Dunley who have been added to the 2009 NRL squad from the 2008 NYC squad, all those others mentioned above as signings you will find are either Wests Magpies, Balmain Tigers or WT NYC signings as opposed to Wests Tigers NRL

Also Shannon Gallant was a Western Suburbs Magpies contracted player in 2008 and as yet his status for 2009 is unknown

Rabbitohs Respond to Issac Luke Rumours
17 Oct 2008

The South Sydney Football Club would like to clarify rumours regarding Issac Luke.
Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson said: “Issac Luke is under contract to the Rabbitohs until the end of the 2010 season.”
“Issac has not asked for a release from his playing contract, and has not contacted the Club regarding any matter such as this.
“Issac is an integral part of the future of this Club, and we all can’t wait to see him wear the red and green again in 2009.”

Knights jerseys for talented rugby league pair
NICK HANSEN
14/10/2008 8:27:00 AM
It is fitting these two rugby league rising stars should begin the next stage of their careers in the same set of Newcastle Knights jumpers.

Sam Anderson and Jay Stevens began their relationship with the game of rugby league in the West Maitland Red Dogs under-11s and 12s respectively.

They played every following season in the same forward pack for the Red Dogs until this year saw the pair switch to the Kurri Kurri Bulldogs.

After an impressive year with the Bulldogs under-17s team, Anderson and Stevens threw their hats in the ring at Newcastle Knights SG Ball selection trials on September 26 and head Knights coach Brian Smith’s selection team liked what they saw.

The two 17-year-olds will play in the SG Ball competition in 2009.

Anderson, a second rower and Stevens, a lock, were among 70 young players from across NSW and interstate to attend the invite-only Knights trials, and took their chance when it came.

The pair got the thumbs-up from the Knights camp on Friday, while good friend and fellow Bulldogs player Jaylan Connelly is set to move to Sydney to take up a spot with the West Tigers.

“We have grown up playing together and now we are probably going to get to play against Jaylan, which should be good fun,” Stevens said.

Anderson, from Rutherford Technology High School and Stevens, from All Saints College, St Mary’s Campus, Maitland, both have their sights on a future in their game after they sit the Higher School Certificate exams, which begin this week.

“We do really want to play for a living,” Anderson said.

“But we are just trying to take it one step at a time and not get too far ahead of ourselves.

“Now that we are in the SG Ball we both really want to make Toyota Cup next year, that is our next step.

“And we have still got to do our HSC yet.”

The pair have not ruled out a return for the Bulldogs in their 2009 Tooheys Cup campaign.

“I would still really like to play reserve or first grade for the Bulldogs I think,” Anderson said.

“We will play the first half of the season in SG Ball and then go back to the Bulldogs.”
