F**k...

It's all well and good when they're taking fringe first graders, but promising players like Chase are going to hurt our competition IMO.

Chase and Gasnier are probably the only two worth getting worked up about IMO.

Your kidding ? they are all 1st grade quality players , most of them at the peak of their careers. Thats one full 1st grade squad leaving every year.

Sigh.

Chalk - No big loss for Canberra
Chase - Big time loss for Dragons
Shane Perry (Les Catalans) - No big loss, was just back up for Wallace/Lockyer
Cameron Phelps (Wigan - 2008) - reserve grader
Nick Youngquest (Pia - France) - reserve grader
Matt Peterson (Wakefield - 2008) - something of a loss, but easily replaced by titans
David Vaeliki (France Rugby - 2008) - reserve grader and past it
Steve Menzies (Bradford) - still a great player but now is the time to go
Steve Bell (Les Catalans) - getting slower and easier to tackle each year
Michael Crocker (Hull FC) - storm will replace him easily
Mitchell Sargent (Castleford - 2008-2010) - reserve grader
Danny Buderus (Leeds) - great player but past his prime
David Faiumu (Huddersfield - 2008) - bench player at best
Ray Cashmere (Salford) - no big loss
Mark Riddell (Wigan) - past his best
Tim Smith (Wigan - 2008/2009) - still dealing with mental and drinking problems
Chad Robinson (Harlequins) - bench player
Tony Puletua (St Helens) - past it
Luke Rooney (Toulon - France Rugby) - past it
Mark Gasnier (Stade Francais) - big loss for Dragons
Jason Ryles (Les Catalans) - "looks like tarzan, plays like jane", he and dane carlaw will get on well.
Brett Hodgson (Huddersfield) - great player, but is past his best
Ryan O'Hara (Celtic Crusaders) - reserve grader

you've summed it up pretty well, Patorick.

blokes like Buderus and Menzies are just following the well trodden path of ESL superannuation and it is well deserved after such a great career.

the majority of the rest are heading towards the end of their NRL careers and have not made that big an impression that they won't be replaced, and replaced easily.

Actually Chad Robinson has been playing alright this season. Better than a bench player.

Ok I'll give you Chad. That's three. still don't think it's that big of a deal, especially with all the Under 20s blokes moving up next year.

Chase
Gasnier
Ryles
Cashmere
Crocker
SBW

Are all big losses IMO.

While the likes of Buderus and Menzies can do as they please, some of those players still have so much to offer our competition and to de-value them is honestly being far too narrow minded.

Fans have been complaining for weeks about the quality of the matches and yet some fans believe it has nothing to do with the player drain? Of course it has to do with the player drain! The NRL has to do something about this pronto as I feel this is only the beginning.
