He has shown flashes of potential, but mainly been disappointing. Very suspect defensively, much more so than anyone we currently have in first grade.

Just my opinion.

Yeah his defensive game was always a concern but every young back in the history of the game is guilty of this.

'Spose the Raiders already have too many flashy but defensively deficient backs.

That seems a bit odd.

Thought Massey showed some decent signs last year in first grade. A club like Wests could have used him.

Aren't Mounties camberras feeder club anyway? So did they really release him or just drop his contract down a grade, if that's possible. Wouldn't they still be able to call him up if needed or can the clubs only do that foe their contracted players who are currently in reserves?

They are ( in a joint venture ), they still need to have a Canberra contract to be called up to FG.

Sao is snapped up by SeaEagles
http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/spo...napped-up/

BOOM New Zealand Warriors prop Ligi Sao has signed a three-year deal with the Sea Eagles.

The Manurewa Marlins junior made the headlines recently after allegedly being bitten on the wrist by Cronulla Sharks Toyota Cup player Daniel Moroko.

Considered one of the hottest prospects in the NRL, Sao was part of the Warriors' under-20s grand final winning team last season and will join Geoff Toovey's top squad in 2013.

Manly recruitment manager David Warwick was elated to secure 20-year-old Sao.

"Ligi is one of the leading front rowers in the Toyota Cup," he said.

"He plays long minutes and he has great speed combined with great skill.

"He's very excited about the opportunity to play with the senior, world-class players here and he's determined to make a go of it.

"We're looking forward to watching him develop under Tooves (coach Geoff Toovey) and the team.

"We've identified some top young talent in Michael Chee Kam, Clinton Gutherson, Jake Trbojevic and now Ligi, so our future certainly looks bright."

Low's problem isn't just missing tackles though. Even when he makes a tackle he's rarely strong enough to stop the momentum and so gets carried back 5-10 metres.

He went really well against blokes his own age, but has struggled against older, bigger men.

Heh, skeepe you're not telling me anything new here, all young centres/wings tend to lack strength. It's nothing a good strength routine and defensive structure couldn't fix. I always just think of players like Renouf really. Went from a turnstyle into a fairly solid defender in his own right.

Regardless, I was just laughing that he was behind the likes of Bani, Pelo & Earl. What a terrible rap to give a kid! Canberra won't regret the decision at all even if he turns out to be the goods. They'll just produce some other SG Ball talent who can run a million miles an hour & fend off players.

Manly continue to buy the premium talent of the NYC. Good purchase Manly, your 2013 recruitment has been sublime.

Plays okay but is a worry in the wet. Gets soggy.
