The NRL is turning into the NBA or EPL, the top 3 or 4 sides amass all the talent and the rest get the scraps.

The Roosters started this arms race bullshit with Cronk and Teddy.

Hopefully this f**ks Souths cap for years to come.

Sus as. Not sure how Souffs pull this off when we have had to shed 2 top liners a year since getting any success.

Yeah cause we've had no turn over. We've lost Reynolds, Gagai, Sua, Mansour, Nicholls in two years without any name signings. That's after GI, Sam Burgess and Sutton retired in 2020

This is hilarious watching south’s supporters using the roosters excuses.
How many have the panthers signed in 2 years compared to what was lost. Couldn’t even afford the upgrades to keep them but miraculously south’s don’t have to upgrade players cause they just want to Win a comp.

GI in to Latrell and Burgess into Arrow takes them off the list.

Mansour? lol. He would have been on a pie and chips a game.

GI and Sam were on a million a year. Latrell is on $850k and Arrow is on $700k

Mansour was supposedly on $400k. Played like he should be on match payments though

Regardless point is we haven't really gone to market. Apparently many of our contracts don't have ratchet clauses too creating a savings when the cap increases

Not all true. Panthers have done it via their own grassroots programs. Their players have soared in value based on the clubs success to the point where almost every club has either a Panthers junior (SG/JF/HM) or a player who found form whilst there.

The Raiders and Knights should be copying what Panthers have done via their set up. These 3 clubs will never really attract already made rep quality big names - so create your own and gradually increase their value as they progress. Raiders already did that with Wighton, now do it for another 10-14 players in that 17.

Latrell 850 yeh right. Tigers offered him 1.2 and went to south’s for 800 . That was just upgraded and arrow signed for 800 from the Titans but apparently hyhwy both took pay cuts to win a comp

This is straight from the Roosters playbook. When they are signed they are playing for love; when they leave or are injured, they are on over a million a year, and justify going to market and buying marquee players.

Yeah but it's also worth noting your side is very young. No retirements in the mix, and 2 Premiership wins is a big difference to no Premiership wins for a squad.

When we won in 2014 we ended up losing by 2016: Luke Keary, Issac Luke, Chris McQueen, Sam Burgess (briefly), Api Koroisau, Auvaa, Tuqiri, Dave Tyrrell and Ben Teo from the Grand Final team. By end of 2019 it was just Tom Burgess, Reynolds and Alex Johnston left from that team

Wouldn't mind that. Souths would be a real force in the finals.

Would also give ricky an excuse for another underwhelming season.
