Norths and their fans winning and manly and their fans losing on GF day?

Yeh...Id like to see that.

Would top off a great day for Bears fans I imagine...

But frankly anything less would be quite a pathetic effort given the injection of 1st graders into the side once Souths got knocked out in week 1.
Norths also lost Jaiman Lowe, Shannon Hegarty and Manase Manuokafoa when that happened.

As has been said earlier in this thread - it would be a great day for rugby league if North Sydney won and Manly lost.

Manly are the team that shouldn't be in first grade, I miss the good ol' grizzlies.

GO NORTH SYDNEY!

The bears are undoubtedly one of the greatest clubs in the league.

Their recent success is due in no small part to the massive injection of quality players courtesy of Souths. In return, the bears have provided careful stewardship and care of same.

A fringe player for the bears at the start of the season could easily find himself in front of 32 thousand fans in a game at the back end.

Like the jets last year, the bears success shows that the traditional clubs are the backbone of this game and we ignore them at our peril.

Congratulations to our brothers, the North Sydney Bears.

The league turns its lonely eyes to you.

You'd boo Santa Claus unless he came down the chimney in a Broncos jersey. You need to realise that the game of rugby league has been around a bit longer longer than 1988.
GO THE BEARS!

another brilliant one

great thread this one.

good to see so many people passionate about the whole issue of the foundation clubs / north sydney in particular.

as RL got a massive boost by bringing souths back to the nrl, i think down the track they would get another one by bringing back norths on the central coast.

why try and relocate a sydney side and cause more heartache. get the TV deals the game deserves and then we can have all the sydney clubs playing where they are and funded properly, and have new teams like perth, wellington and the central coast bears.

the Bears on the central coast would be very successful.

LOL. Who, Gordon, Williams and Greenfield? Superstar trifecta that.

How on earth could you forget the peach? Or Eddie Paea???

Also, I wouldn't be writing off Joey's impact so easily. He is the only reason you even made the finals in the first place. Its no coincidence you were in freefall while he was playing for the bears and then won 3 in a row on his return to the top grade.

Simmonds and Irvine spent a fair bit of time in 1sts, although they aren't stars by any stretch of the imagination.

Goose. Now you're stretching it. You specifically said players who dropped back after Souths were eliminated. Peachey has been in PL for 10 weeks. Eddie Paea has played all bar 3 games in PL/Flegg FFS! Irvine has been there for about 15 weeks as too Simmonds for all bar 1 or 2 games. As for Joey, well his consistency in PL is about the same as in FG.

Peach hasn't played first grade since about round 18. Paea only played 3 first grade games this season and didn't play the last 4 rounds in first grade.

We weren't in a 'freefall' when Williams returned to first grade. Ben Rogers was more of the catalyst for our form reversal along with the emergence of Issac Luke. We had won 5 from 9 when Williams returned.

Simmonds played no more than half a dozen first grade games, Irvine perhaps 8. So while Greenfield, Williams and Gordon were dropped back they had all played important roles in getting the team to the finals and they basically only replaced (as Girvie mentioned) Lowe, Hegarty and Manuokafoa. So there was no injection of first graders at all at any time.

Very true but such a massive understatement. If the Bears had of got their original chance to play on the CC they would easily be the most powerful wealthiest club in NSW by a long shot.

Even if they came back now or in a few years like hoped, i dare say they would be way more viable than some teams currently in the NRL comp.

John Singleton, 2 leagues clubs and owning their own stadium, 800000 unrepresented people from Northern Sydney and the CC.. enough said.
(this is of course if SIngo would be still interested.)

Norths would still be around if it weren't for scum clubs like Canberra thinking they were bigger than the game ;-).

Fred - good point.
It's the "Sydney-based" clubs who didn;t want a Singo-backed team threatening them. Add the [athetic News Limited lackeys like gallop and the ridiculous creation of the Tightens - and the Bears have been stuffed.

However, if Singo can put up a fight for a change. the GF appearance and exposure might get the wheels turning again.

GO THE BEARS.

BEARS WIN; MANLY LOSS - GREAT RESULT FOR RUGBY LEAGUE.
