I get what you're saying but for me I think that if Cronk is available and wants to play for us then it would be hard to ignore that. I don't think age is as much of an issue as being voiced on here. That said I can just see him extending with the Storm.

Agree that Cronk is the benchmark when it comes to halves, but lets say Benji wins the Dally M and leads us to the top 4 (not far fetched given he polled so highly on what on many on here consider a poor season), would we still set him loose and pay a million plus per season for Cronk??

Would be an interesting scenario. I wouldn't be counting out Benji just yet.

It would be interesting. That said, I would be pretty confident about what we would get from Cronk over a 3 year period, even accounting for age. I just can't say the same for Marshall, even if he has an amazing season next year.

I think there's some doubt over Widdop and Marshall as our halves combination to consider alternatives outside of the club. Sure it could be different with Mann but I doubt we will see Mann have a prominent role that would take the pressure of the halves, at least not in his first season. I think Cronk at halfback would remove a lot of that doubt.

He is for sure one talented homie:crazy: GC also has Taylor, that very highly regarded half from the Broncos U20s. Seems neither of them is suited to 5/8. Could trade Mann and a depth forward for one of them. I know some people will flip out over this but I'm going to state it anyway. If I were Mary I would trade Widdop for one of them, move Benji to 5/8 and save some money to upgrade JDB, Frizzell or someone else deserving.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but in the GC vs Dragons game late last season Benji was out, Widdop terrible and Elgey brilliant.

Vas i was at the Titans vs Dragons game . Benji did play , Widdop was our best and Elgey was ok .

I see. According to a lot of homies Widdop was our best in every game. They are either deluding themselves or are watching different games to me and unbiased judges.
