Combined with the salary cap scandal and the first board ever been outed by the govt is a world first
Fact check - an administrator was previously appointed to Marrickville RSL Club in much the same way as ours has been appointed.

I'd be more concerned about the people raising children who don't set a good role model so the kid has to rely on a professional athlete for that job.

I like to think that I am a good role model for my children. They are parra fans and big fans of Corey Norman. What are their thoughts on him now? That he is an idiot that has done something stupid but that he is still a good player. Why? Because my wife and I have taught them the downfall of abusing drugs so they don't have to rely on a footy player to set the example for them

Yep!!

In my opinion the role model stuff is crap, especially for the younger kids. My son plays footy, supports a side and watches footy on TV. But he doesn't give a shit about what the players get up to and he definitely wouldnt model his behaviour on what players do off the field ( it's what they do on the field that can influence). His more worried about stampy long nose or what ever his bloody name is then footy players.

But the biggest issue I have with his behaviour is gambling and the advertisement of it during games. My son is always asking about the ads and how gambling works. This is more likely to influence him.

So the useless NRL is worried about the off field behaviour of players yet have no issue with throwing gambling advertisements down the throat of their younger supporters. Gambling is a major issue in society and the NRL has no issue with promoting it to their fans, kids that aren't even 10.

What a f**ken joke the NRL is!!

Assuming the kids have good role model parents

Dad could be a drop kick, mum a Centrelink princess, who knows.

I teach my kids not to look up to sportsmen and women unless they have done something worth admiring.
The scary thing is that kids without good role models at home will transfer their admiration to sportspeople and other 'celebrities'. There has to be some accountability.

whilst I agree generally there are some rare exceptions

I know a 12 yo girl who's mum is an alco and step day is a druggie and she keeps house for them and never complains, she is a rare commodity.I feel so sorry for her and her future

Bert is on a media tour again, was on ABC Illawarra this morning, suggested he would help the club if asked.

True.

But that's why, imo, the onus is on the parents to be good role models.
