All guys on minimum wage still have a choice to play pro rugby league or do their trade. They aren’t forced into it. They pick footy because the lifestyle is better and they earn more while they are younger.

They can work like the rest of us but choose not to.

Yes the elite players make big dollars but the guys like your Terepos have the same commitment. They come out of it with these banged up bodies and lot of time no skills for the workforce.
They may have 70k less a year for the next 35yrs....

I agree and disagree. It's a hard job but the money and the time allows you to make something of yourself if you have good advisors/mentors/parents and have a head screwed on right. A RL player can study a Law degree in their prime, pay it off fully and get accolades for it. None of this has stopped Alvaro doing his degree and gettin 40 in my fantasy team every week, let alone what he does for the team week in week out.

As for missing the time of your life. Not everyone gets to go backpacking in their prime and single. However, just about every RL player, fit and full of testosterone in their prime has chicks throw themselves at them in any given club in NSW and QLD. THAT doesn't happen to mere mortals who have to work 9-5, hit the gym, eat right and have game on them.

...and you’re forgetting the players who actually go through uni whilst on full time contracts. Alvaro is a good example. There’s no reason they couldn’t commence a professional career once their playing days are over.

I know he seems to be this years scapegoat and all, and I don't wanna spoil the fun, so go ahead, it's not like he's on fire or anything, but...

Why on earth would/should we pay him to play at another club, those kinds of shenanigans are what got us into trouble before.

If a club wants to take him, and he wants to go, fine. But we shouldn't be paying extra cash, getting rid of Normal will not do us any better than paying him to play at another club (plus having to buy a new half on top) will.

It might turn out ok if we don't have to pay much and Salmon turns out good.

It would have to be a significant net saving to be worth it.

Anyone we are gonna get that is gonna end up in a net saving is gonna be as shit as Norman (probably worse to be honest) or a project or discipline case, which we don't want either.

Although that being said, I don't think he's been particularly bad this year, just not as good as he has been before. I don't think he needs to go, he just needs a good kick up the arse.

They said on NRL tonight that one club wants Norman as their starting 7 next year, if we pay some of it.
