Just listen to him and heads up to him to go public and confront his bosses on the way they act. Calling him a brain dead meat head is such a dipshit thing to say.Your opinion may have formed on how he plays on the field, but the points he made definitely affects him personally.

I did listen to him and he was as dumb as expected. I'd be betting his wife holds all the credit cards and makes all the financial decisions in their household. Even Joel Thompson said he needed to chill out.

probably, but maybe he thought “why should I take the same hit as players when I’m working 12 hour days to keep the game afloat and they’re at home on their playstations”? In hindsight he should have realised the likes of Kent would go after him and probably been a bit more responsive in his pay cut.

At 200-300k that is plenty! It shows leadership too. You can’t send the message that “we are in this together” and then only take 20-30%.

Government exemptions open door for NRL return

April 2, 2020 — 12.01am

Key government exemptions signed off late on Monday night have cleared the way for the NRL to explore an audacious bid to have the competition back up and running as early as next month.

The sweeping public health orders signed by NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard confirm the new restrictions do not "prevent the conduct of events (such as sporting or racing events)".

The exemption was noted with interest at rugby league headquarters, although a government source said the decision to suspend the competition had been the NRL’s, pointing out that racing had been able to continue in NSW.

The newly-formed NRL innovation committee, led by ARL commissioner Wayne Pearce, met for the first time on Wednesday morning and is working with government to map out a plan that could see the competition return weeks before the anticipated July 1 best-case scenario and save thousands of jobs across the sporting industry.

Operation Bubble, or Project Apollo as Pearce referred to the committee, would see teams potentially split into conferences across different isolated locations in NSW. The plan hinges on medical and expert advice the governing body is expecting in the next week in relation to the trend of coronavirus infection rates.

The NRL has noted that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Australia per day has actually decreased since it suspended the competition on Monday March 23, when 328 new cases were recorded.

On Monday and Tuesday this week, 271 and 299 new cases respectively were recorded, less than when the NRL acted on the advice of its pandemic and biosecurity expert - not the government - to stop the season.

The NRL innovation committee, which also includes the NRL's Andrew Abdo, Graham Annesley and Liz Deegan - as well as Roosters coach Trent Robinson, Raiders chief executive Don Furner, RLPA boss Clint Newton and former deputy premier Troy Grant, will meet again next Thursday, when plans to restart the season in the coming weeks will be escalated.

"We want the competition up and running as soon as possible," Pearce told the Herald. "That’s got to factor in player safety, community safety and a range of factors we need to consider. We are saying July 1, that is fixed in the ground and we are working towards that, but if we can make it happen sooner, we will."

There is nothing stopping the NRL, under current NSW government rules, from restarting its competition immediately in one state, although the NRL is keen to ensure a resumption does not cause any concern for the broader community.

Plan to relocate NRL to tropical island

As it stands, the Warriors aren't allowed in the country, although the NRL is still working with New Zealand government to determine whether the team would be able to travel across the ditch if the players self-isolated for 14 days.

The Queensland government, which has shut its borders, is allowing people to travel in and out of the state for work purposes and the NRL is in discussions to gain clarity on whether it would be able to bring 13 teams into a centralised Queensland location, casting doubt over the Gladstone proposal.

While the NRL is sensitive to the situation confronting most of its fans during the global pandemic, strict testing and quarantine measures are being planned to ensure that players would be safer in a "bubble" environment and pose no risk to the community.

if he had no doubt kent would have been hammering him for being paid at all and not being like the qantas ceo! I do agree to some point he should have gone the 45% same as players even though he’s having to graft and players are sat on their arses.

It’s a bit worrying some state govts seem to now be going, not as bad as we thought let’s reverse decisions. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite them.

The 45% range should have been the first figure though

What is “dumb as expected” like he confirmed your opinion of him? Was he dumb the way he spoke English or was dumb to speak his mind with emotion and confront those publicly who control his lively hood?

The NRL like to use the word “family” which means different things to most players, but to Joey who is Samoan, I suspect it means you all behave in the same way, which this family is not.

The execs not taking the same cut as players is such an own goal. These blokes are millionaires, it is not like they need their wage to put food on the table. It would have paid for itself in the good will it would have created with fewer moody players going off script.

Go 75% across the board all at once. And with the government's $1500 employee subsidy it should be possible to keep every working class worker.

I think Toddles and BJ need to sit down over a KFC family feast and talk about what family means to each of them.

Why fight when you can have chicken?

Players haven’t had a 75% pay cut ffs. That’s just Kent BS. They’ve had 5 months full pay and will get 7 months at 55% pay. Not bad for playing two games and sitting on your arse for the next few months,

But Kenty yelled it really loud so it must be true

he can’t even get his own lie right, other day he was yelling they were getting a 75% cut, last night he was yelling 72%. In reality it’s a 25% annual salary cut. Not bad getting 75% of your pay for two games work!
