The NRL should go and offer the All Blacks an annual 3-game series against the Kangaroos (RL rules obviously)

They might feel dirty the first year, but they will get used to it. They do need the money.

cool but have line outs. No scrums. Line outs are good.

Interchanges could be lifted to 10 amid a host of rule changes being considered by the NRL in a bid to protect players from injury once they return to the field on May 28.

The Sunday Telegraph has learnt a number of proposals are being thought out as part of several committees established by the NRL ahead of their planned return.

Among the considerations include:

– Lifting interchanges from eight to 10.

– Introducing an 18th man who can take to the field if a player is ruled out because of concussion.

– Having a 15-minute halftime instead of 10.

– Potential for drink beaks at the 20th minute mark.

– 20 players available for selection up to an hour before kick-off.

First 2 rounds should be played in 20 min quarters but play restart from location it stopped

I like the idea of a hybrid game with mostly league rules, apart from line-outs when ball goes over sideline, and for knock on the scrum must stay bound for x seconds, or until the first tackle after the scrum (ie give the backs some play from the scrum with no forwards)

why would we Want to promote rugby union in any way shape or form? International slots are precious, we shouldn’t be wasting them on that sht game.

in my experience in our business most contracts with these type of force majeures in them state that the delivery of the contract can be suspended until the episode is over and normal business can resume. We’ve never had one with a time limited period attached.

Not sure I’d be putting Ecclestone up as a great example, some of the sht in F1 when he was in charge led to drivers deaths. Watch the senna doco!

Not only that, several teams threatened a breakaway series on more than one occasion under his watch. He only got them back into line with huge bribes.

Surprisingly the journo goons on the footy show all agreed on wanting the season to be 20 games, or as long as possible, despite their employer wanting 15, which Gallen agreed with.

20 is good and will be close to being as good as if no pandemic happened. In a way it would be even better as it would make the test of the year positive in what has been a depressing year to date.

Are practice games against other clubs part of the deal by which the code restarts? Might as well play reserve grade if so.

All NRL players are in the safe bubble. Part timers needed for Reserve grade aren’t that was the issue filling teams

NRL players could be forced to move out of homes as season return approaches
NRL clubs have been sent a detailed draft biosecurity protocol document which will be in play by the time teams resume training next Monday.

Players and staff could be forced to move out of their homes under strict new biosecurity measures to be put in place by the NRL.

Clubs were sent a detailed 48-page draft biosecurity protocol document which will be in play by the time teams resume training next Monday. Every club will have to provide a register of staff and players to the NRL.

Their living arrangements will need to be approved after they undergo a “household screening for each player and club official on the register” by the club’s medical officer.

That could either be via a questionnaire or an inspection. If a player or staff member is deemed at risk they could be asked to move to enable them to be part of the resumed competition.

“Household screening will assess matters such as whether they are members of the player or club officials’ household who are at high risk in relation to COVID-19,” the document read.

“Whether consideration should be given to relocating persons to alternative accommodation, or to implementing additional precautions to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19 to vulnerable individuals.”

Some of the household screening questions will include asking every person if anyone in the household has a heart condition, asthma, chronic lung disease, diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, chronic liver disease, is aged 65 or over or is of indigenous heritage and aged 50 or over.

People who live with teachers, doctors, nurses and those who work in aged care may also come under scrutiny for working in a “high-risk category”.

Players and staff will also be banned from exercising at local parks and stopped from carpooling unless given prior permission in exceptional circumstances — such as loss of licence.

They will naturally have to self-isolate while guests at home are forbidden even if government regulations are loosened.

The NRL is still working on how many people clubs will be able to register. It is understood the number will be about 50 including players – meaning clubs will limit their staff to about 15.

Some of the other measures include:

– Daily cleaning with disinfectant and bleaching of all training equipment including footballs. This must be done by a person on the register – not an external cleaning company;

– People on the registered list have to complete an online training module;

– Taxis and ride shares are banned;

– Daily household screening questionnaire where they will be asked about whereabouts for the past 24 hours;

– Single access to the venue which must be manned and secure; and

– Temperature checked before you are able to enter a training venue.

Players and officials must have their own thermometer and fill in health and whereabouts reports correctly and on time every day. This will likely be via an app.

Players who break the rules have been warned they will be suspended or fined while clubs that seriously flout the protocols could have competition points docked.

The NRL has backed the government’s introduction of the coronavirus Contact App with the ALRC pledging to use the application.

“We absolutely believe in the importance of the community health message and are proud to work with the government to promote it far and wide,” chairman Peter V’landys said.

NRL club bosses will be provided with daily briefs from the game’s head office every day at 3pm.

WA is starting to open up again tomorrow. By end of May we could see most things open again and it not being that big a problem to play games like in wk1&2.

Maybe they become teachers over the last few weeks?
I’m sure everyone will be outraged by these 6 blokes after seeing thousands of people jammed on the beach over the weekend.

So it would appear as though the Fox and Latrine (sounds like a Disney movie) don't give a stuff about social distancing protocol.

These sorts of acts and headlines will give the naysayers and government fuel to put a halt to the May 28 restart.

Selfish merkins. It's always been the Latrine way.

So let me get this right. The NRL is doing everything, possibly everything it can, to get the competition up and running again on May 28. Talking with state governments, negotiating with the TV broadcasters, engaging with the player's union, working on travel arrangements for the Warriors and coming up with a comprehensive biosecurity plan to ensure the well being of the players.

And these gronks can't even stay at home.

Throw the f***ing book at them V'Landys. Suspended for the season and absolutely no pay. They can f*** right off.
