it’s Coming, traditional tv is slowly dying. The figures rumoured for the next nrl deal are less than the last deal for the first time ever. As more people dump fta and paytv and switch to streaming services there won’t be the viewers, subscribers or advertisers to pay big deals. That will mean direct sales of content t become a more viable option. Who’d have said a few years ago that fox would launch a cheap streaming service that would be close to 1/2 million subscribers within 18 months?

Mate, you are living in fantasy land.

A lot of people would have guessed Fox would have that number because, for a very long time, people were saying that they just wanted a sports subscription and not the rest of the garbage that came with it.

It's not now, nor for a very long time will it be financially viable. If ever. Regardless of your dreams.

From the Sydney Morning Herald -

Queensland says NRL players need valid medical reason to avoid flu jab
By Toby Crockford

Queensland's NRL players refusing to get the flu vaccine are allowed to play without getting the jab – as long as they have a valid medical reason.

The state's Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young sent a letter to the NRL on Monday outlining the conditions of her vaccine exemption.

"I did exempt them for medical contraindications, no different to the exemptions that I provide for children who are attending childcare or for people going into aged care," she says.

"If you've had an anaphylactic reaction to a previous flu vaccine or to any component of a flu vaccine, then you do not need to be vaccinated.

"That [philosophical issue] is not covered. Only if you have a medical contraindication."

Only one problem there, children aren't required to get the flu shot to attend daycare.

Good from the QLD Government!

No jab no play. It’s not that hard.

Let’s see how much of an anti vaxxer they are when they don’t have 200k of income coming it!

Bryce is on a good deal more than that I'd expect, even with 20% taken off. Of course whether they can actually refuse to pay him might be determined in court.

Well worth it if it goes that route. I’m sure the NRL have some advice and it’s not the NRL’s decision anyway it’s the government.

If the anti-Vaxxers feel so strongly about this, they should volunteer to stand down without pay.

All they want is to have the freedom to choose what medical procedures and medications they take..

… Of course they already have that. What they really want is everyone else's freedom to not work with lunatics taken away.

big hit!

It's past that now. If the QLD govt ban is upheld, it's going to be interesting how much conviction they have in their beliefs when GC tell them they will be released from their $x00,000 per season contract.

So now the NRL are trying to move the draw around so the NSW Based clubs with anti vaccine players aren’t affected.

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...e/news-story/ad664673b0f404e10d33f5edfade5d1f

why are the raiders, dogs, and manly being given special treatment here? Just play the games as scheduled and those teams will need to stand people down for QLD games. Pretty simple.

seems ridiculous to change the draw specifically to favour these 3 teams

The Gold Coast Titans have made formal requests to Bryce Cartwright and Brian Kelly to obtain up-to-date influenza and, as required, pneumococcal vaccinations.

Doing so will enable each player to meet the requirements of the Queensland State Government’s protocols allowing Queensland-based NRL Clubs to train and play.

In turn, this will allow both players to resume training and to play with the Titans when the NRL Telstra Premiership resumes on May 28.

Both players have been asked to notify the Club of their agreement with this direction by Thursday 14 May.

The Gold Coast Titans will be making no further comment on this issue until that time.

$800k a year down the gurgler for Bryce. Can't see any other clubs signing him either.

No. BTSport, Sky and Amazon. They have apps but you need subscribe. Not an EPL app

The NRL will partner with Fox the digital arm that will save a heap.

Fox recently purchased HBO in the US, what's the bet they use the league to get eyeballs onto this plus cash.

Get your league and the HBO library.

Plus they get access to 1.5 million people on the NRL data base.
