Bond & Skaise were seen as the new Messiah by many in WA. As misguided as they may have been an enormous amount of everyday people invested large wads of their savings into their shares, many of them their total retirement savings. I am unable to find stats but I do remember this era quite well.
Of course some profit in these times and others don't. It was the little people that probably were hurt the most as they had no idea really. The governments of the time also lost around $800m from the failures so in effect we all payed. In defence of Bond at least he stayed to face the music unlike the coward Skaise.
These bloke aren't heros.
Hawkey was woofin down the free stuff though with Bondy in 83 when he decalred that any boss who didnt give his workers the day off, was a bum.
Looks like they already are!Just saw this in the NRL forum...

They have repo'ed Tinks Plane and Helicopter.
Wasn't it part of Waynes contract that the plane be available to fly him back home to Brissie.
If Tinks goes arse up, are the Knights in deep crap.
Funny how it turns out. I was jealous when this phat f**k came on the scene.
Oh well.
What part was he cast to play?I heard a rumor Tinkler was cast to play in the sequel to Planes trains and automobiles...
