Brad Haddin was probably the 1st international cricketer i ever met in person.

He was special guest at a school holiday cricket clinic I did when I was like 11 or 12.

Probably around 2005/2006 so he was stuck behind Gilly at that stage but had played for Australia.

Still got his signature on the mini cricket bat we got for being part of clinic. So always had a soft spot for him later on.

I don't think we appreciated him for what he did for Australia coming off the back off Gilchrist was an impossible task to fill. But Hadds did a great job throughout his career and played unselfishly a lot of time which probably dragged his average lower then it could have been.

The 2013/14 he was the Saviour in most innings from memory.

He did have that howler in Cape Town 47 but so did 10 other blokes.
