Super coach not giving Matthews a run hey? Drops Drinkwater and only uses 16 men. We could have used his kicking game to steer us home. Fien's kicks are terrible. That last nothing kick into touch 30 metres out from their line was a gift to the Guppies. FMD, Weyman kicks the ball better.

Well....another one down the tubes due to poor discipline and very poor last tackle options. Our team has a very soft underbelly which is on display for all to see. As for the press conferences, well don't even get me started there. "The better team for the majority of the match" "Proud of the effort", "Unlucky". Luck has nothing to do with it, you make your own in football with discipline, attack and defence, something that is lacking on all aspects of our game. As for being the better team, well let me just say that footy games go for 80 minutes not 79:45 sec. We are so far away in comparison to other teams that we will need the yellow pages to find the true St George Illawarra.

What's the lesson learnt when yet again "we did the Coach proud" except more warm and fuzzies?

Any other Coach would blasting his Players for squandering a 12 pt lead ...AGAIN!!!!

spot on, accepting it for being too nice like a lot of people today who are worried about leaving mental scars on people when you criticise them. I don't use emoticons, but guy hitting head on brick wall would be appropriate here,

Our defensive line is slow. They take a couple of steps forward and then stand there giving the opposition momentum. We have no one who will belt the opposition and put simply, we do not intimidate any opposition. I despise how our defenders lie on the ground around the ruck, making no attempt to get up. It leaves us short all the time. Ben Creagh takes an eternity to get back onside. He needs to lead from the front. If he is tired, f**king replace him with a bloke like Matthews instead of using only 16 men. WTF was Price thinking? The same can be said when our forwards take hit ups. We are too busy looking for offloads all the time instead of smashing into the defence, bending the line and putting them on the back foot. Our play the balls are slow and Rein's service is pedestrian like. How many times has he had the ball knocked out of his hands by the markers? Not to mention our pathetic kicking game. Drinkwater dropped out of the team leaving us with the same shit as the previous 21 games. All I hope is that Price doesn't get the opportunity next year to nobble (not knobble) blokes like Widdop, Williams and Farrell.

Agree with you regarding Creagh....saw it a few times last night where he made a tackle and just sat there when the opposition had moved 10 metres away.....and as for Rein yes he made a lot of tackles but geez hes slow...his passes from dummy half are at times woeful, on a couple of occasions he passed some to Weyman and they were above his shoulder..his problem is he doesn't concentrate on doing the basic stuff correctly....if you look at Cam Smith he just makes it look easy by doing the small stuff right...and that's giving good ball to his forwards...

Funny how you just know... huh?

At half time in tonight's game I thought the same.

rewind to about this time 2010. Playing Tigers in Major semi, we were down at half time, or down midway thru the 2nd half, and I had exactly the same knowing ....except that we would WIN !!!

sigh : (

Yep my thoughts exactly...i was out and kept checking my phone for updates, and low and behold my thoughts didn't let me down :(

Match Thoughts:

o JDB is getting faster & stronger as he ages, I really think he can be our George Burgess next year, hes not as big but he reminds me of Thor's Hammer, and hes home-grown which I love

o Creagh & Stockwell I think are a good combination, a few of you are picking on Creagh, but I still think he pushes the line back as hard as anyone else? And he has fast line speed.. he just needs the captaincy taken off him by Widdop so he can focus on just doing his job again, he obviously doesnt like doing the refferee stuff.

o Rein is ok and maybe just a bad 'year' but hes not a threat in attack, and Im sick of coming on here every week wondering why one of the 3 other hookers arent getting minutes (injuries aside), I watched some of the other NRL games this week, most of the winning sides had hookers making half busts up the middle, Rein is average & can tackle, which is fine.. but he shouldnt be doing 80 minutes, we have the strongest hooker rotation in the NRL really, and were not utilising it (classic Price coaching selections imo).

o Chase - loving his kicking, once again keeping us in the game, as a centre going ok, def belongs on the field with Coopers injury

o Nightingale & Morris - Without Dugan they had to get more involved and they did, and it was nice to see some quality play... bummed that Nightingale was denied (was a 50/50 call for sure) the chance to save the game with that 79th minute lunge from behind Fifita.. was classic Nightingale (damn I need a cold shower)

Overall I thought we got a few bounces go our way for a change in the first half (such as the one of Charlies head), and we scored some points, Chase converted and between that and Cronulla's error rate, kept us in the game, made it a lot of fun to watch.. end of the day though.. same problems as before frankly, not converting good field position into points in the 2nd half despite being the better team by far.... bring on 2014!

Look at the bright side guys.

Losing a game that you lead by 12 to a team with 50% completion rate, has to send a very loud message to the Board about the Coach.

If he gets punted, we are pleased to have offered a little assistance to ensure you blokes get some sanity back

You would think so but our Board have not got a good track record in this Department although my mail from a few people who have some credible contacts is that there WILL be a change of coach at the end of this season but don't know who it will be. We can only hope !!

we lost yet another game a half decent team would have won easily, the sharks were absolutley rubbish - we were worse..
the sad thing is that it would have actually been better long term if we got flogged, the fact that on the scoreboard it was close gives Price yet another chance to roll out his usual cliche's that a few errors and lack of discipline cost us.. when in reality we were pretty average across the field... i am starting to think these close losses actually are doing us more harm then good..

Since when was any loss ever "good"?

a loss can be good if the team performs well, learns from the loss and implements improvements in their game the following week based on what they learnt from the loss...
Unfortunately we never seem to learn anything from the loss and keep trying the same thing week after week..

Get your point, thanks for clarifying.
There is not enough ability or desire in the squad or the coach to turn this around unfortunately. Otherwise it would have happened by now.

Mitch Rein's penalty in our half on the 4th or 5th leading to their 2nd last try, conceding metres galore with our defence as soft as butter, marker defence all over the place,it's something we see week after week. The only difference is that we were actually leading for most of the game rather than trying to catch up.
From working on our attack ,we have let our defence slip alarmingly from last season,we don't have muscle.

Reins penalty played a huge role but not socring against a team playing that badly in the 2nd half is more the issue. They sat back and thought the game was won after 20 mins.

Another thing, if Saints kicked a penalty goal each time they got a penalty in the Sharks half after they hit 18 they would have probably hit 24-26 points. Instead they went for a tap and either lost the ball or waited for the last tackle to do nothing. I don't get that, if they go teh tap you think they have a plan to play towards for the last tackle. Instead they got to the last tackle and were clueless just like all of 2012-2013. Pathetic.

If a team is going well and the players are loving the coach then you can see why because they are performing to their best and are giving the coach the credit for their good form as he has probably provided some guidance to improve their game. If the team is going crap and they love the coach it is clearly because they have it easy and loving the fact they can play bad and still get picked. He is too soft and a letting them get away with anything.
