And yet they still stand alone...go figure.

Well done.

There is only one reason why....Politis and his influence.

Maybe it's just me but I'd be embarrassed by Ricketson's farewell or the lack of junior development or the lack of a decent home crowd.

Did Politis give the Dragons 80% of the gate takings for the Anzac Day clash. We did make up 80% of the crowd afterall.

Funny how souths were kicked out of the comp even after they could show they had decent crowds and a vast junior nursery. The roosters failed miserably in both these criteria and yet survived. Corruption usually beats out fair play..........How did the roosters convince the criteria police? Truly a mystery.........

Ever heard of putting something back! What a self-centred, selfish attitude. If everybody had that attitude who would help our kids progress through the ranks. Melbourne now have an emerging junior comp and also assist in junior development in other states.

Brisbane help lots of junior teams in QLD. ............

I detest News Limited, but what choice do I have, they run the game I love, have played, have coached and has given me many wonderful memories. Hopefully the rumours are true and they ease their way out of owning the game.

So, kids in the country that don't have a local NRL team. Should nobody give them a run because they aren't local? We develop just as many juniors as anyone else, they just aren't, for the most part, from our area.

Obviously your administration at the time felt differently to the fans...
lol. Mate, the head of the administration was run out of town. His next stop was Bondi Junction I recall.

The ONLY reason the proposed Saints-Easts merger didn't go ahead was because Saints fans got organised and staged a revolt.

Easts fans did nothing, so ask yourself which side wanted the merger to go ahead.

We would have done to them what they did to Illawarra... they would have got the red and white in the socks.

Another thing, St George is probably the most reconisable franchise in Australia. St George fans strongly fought agaisnt the proposed merger, a strength that the Roosters lack. If push comes to shove and the Roosters were to be booted out of the comp or forced to merge, I hardly think there would be 40,000 people marching to town hall a couple of times.

People, the most powerful influence in the world. Something Uncle Nick can never buy.

Just our of curiosity, are Roosters fans proud of the fact that local juniors are so rare? A while ago the Roosters were going to cut off SG Ball and Harold Matts teams so they could save money. Iv been to a few chook games and you guys dont seem to be to concerned very much. Just curious with the major fan revolt on the admiistration of the Eels this year and the Dogs before them, would the Rooster fans be able to create such a change at your club? It seems asthough you need one as the Roosters are going no where fast and are just compounding club culture problems with the signing of Todd Carney.

Where are those 40,000 now?

As for the local juniors, nobody likes the fact we only have 4 clubs in our local area. I'm assuming Politis (or anyone else) hasn't made any prolonged effort to change this due to the fact that in reality in the modern game it makes no difference whatsoever.

As for cutting HM and SG sides, they didn't did they? Ever thought this might be due to the fans being filthy about it? Oh no, we didn't march on town hall....maybe we'll consider it when we get kicked out

Funny thread.

Bottom line is Sharks and Roosters stand alone and the Sharks in particular have fought hard to do so.

May they remain that way for 500 years.

I do believe Nick Politis has said a few things in the media here or there about having the boarders extended so that the Roosters have more junior clubs in the area, but I dont thinnk he has ever made a plea to the NSWRL about it. Besids, its not like the Melbourne Storm have a massive local junior base but they are making more positive development then your club is at that level.

As for it having no effect in the modern game what so ever in the modern game? Hardly, its massive at grass roots. You just dont see it because your happy to let your club get its players on the coat tails of others clubs. Is it any suprise that most AFL junior clubs are based around the Eastern Suburbs?

And no the Roosters didnt cut their Harold Matts and SG Balls sides, but it wasnt because of "the fans" it was because they would have been in danger of losing their NRL licence.

For the millionth time, we have just as many, if not more, given we're such a young side, developed juniors in our side as any other club. Most are from country QLD and NSW, currently 3 are from our junior area.

I meant on a success level. There is no correlation between amount of local juniors and on field success. Which is why I'm assuming no one has bothered to get our junior areas back from Souths. Anyway, Souths Juniors is a different entity to South Sydney.

Danger of losing their NRL licence? Why, because the Penrith CEO had a whinge?

I'm not sure where the 'fought hard' part comes in.

Both clubs tried to initiate merges before Super League.

Roosters have their chairman on the NRL board and Cronulla joined super league after getting a handout from the ARL. Not exactly a campaign of blood and tears.

Both clubs have remained independent via back room skulduggery.

Adam, I find it funny how you think the chookies will survive forever. What will the latte sipper's do when there is no poltis? Enjoy the Rorters for another 20 years because that's all they got. Personally I would like to see a Manly-Rooster merger, they deserve eachother.

Long live the mighty Eels!

St George supporters still couldn't get over the fact that the Roosters smashed them in the 1975 Grand Final...

75? was that like 38 - NIl or something like that?
Oh sweet irony!

Snorks supporters commenting on Grand Finals!

38 - nil was bad indeed.

Compared to 42 (years) - nil (premierships)?

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, yet you wankers throw hand grenades.
