Canberra:
Population - 358,222
Average Temp (Jun/Jul/Aug) - 12.3/11.4/13
Newcastle:
Population - 288,732
Average Temp (Jun/Jul/Aug) - 17.5/16.7/18
Given the average temp is about 5 degrees less, but with a larger population, I would suggest you may not get as large as the Knights (simply because of the stadium size), but you should have a fairly high average.
Your point? We lost. We played like crap. I'm not bitter...
Not going to happen, sorry.
Hunter Valley - ~ 600k
Canberra & Queanbeyan & Surrounding regions - ~ 400k
Canberra - Direct competitors with the A.C.T Brumbies, who came 1st in their division this year, who now also play deeper into the league season
Newcastle - A-League team, barely plays into league season, completely different sport
Canberra - Rugby League probably most popular sport, but strong Union, AFL and Soccer influences. Was considering an AFL town up until 1982 due to the strong Victorian migration in early years.
Newcastle - Rugby league heartland
Canberra - High income area, very high socio economic standards. Highest levels of education (i.e tertiary) in the country. Good proportion of population don't give a flying f**k about sport at all
Newcastle - More working class, lower socio economic areas. League = working class game
Canberra - Higher priced memberships, expensive tickets at the gate
Newcastle - Cut priced memberships due to Tinkler, cheap tickets at gate
Canberra - Weather. Enough said. Coldest winter in God knows how long. Strongly deters the very young and the elderly. Big reason why any code played in the winter will never see huge crowd averages
Then if you want to take it further
Canberra - Old stadium. Very little undercover. Now pushing for new stadium.
Newcastle - Redeveloped stadium
