It's not winter though.......... Last night was f**king ridiculous, and guess what, another home game this week against the sharks with the week ahead looking like its going to be just as bad as the last few days, crowd next week could be just as low as last nights. The NRL have to start listening to the clubs if they have realistic requests, giving us 3/4 at home to start was f**king idiotic on their behalf.

If the NRL won't listen privately then it's up to the club to make it a public issue and get the NRL to respond through the media.

Given none of the other bids are drawing 20k I find it interesting you would set that benchmark for us?

Interesting.

Manly v Tigers in both 2010 and 2011 netted 20,059. Stadium capacity.

How exactly is that not 20k?

Yeah, 100 years ago. Looks great....if you want to present an image of a code stuck in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to think most matches will be played out of 40k all-seaters within a decade, but it is a simple fact that there are teams who will not draw a crowd for some clubs. It's on those occasions that suburban grounds with hills are perfect - they provide the drawcard for thousands of nostalgic fans and they generate immense atmosphere. I'd fully support 2-3 games a year at Belmore vs lower drawing opponents (Titans, Cowboys perhaps).

Maybe in 20 or 30 years things could change but I can't see the NRL aiming that high without a billion-dollar marketing campaign.

With this cyclone forming up in the gulf and i wonder if it has crossed the NRL's mind to move the cows sharks game to sydney and then the rd 26 game to up here???

.

we won't have the advanatage of countless thousands of Souths and Brisbane fans travelling to Perth for the game like Gosford does. Take a look at the colours in the crowd for those games, majority where wearing Wests and Manly jersey's.

Also what about the lower crowds? Didn't they get a sub 10k crowd in Gosford not that long ago? The poster seemed to be suggesting we need to get 20k every game to prove our readiness.

As I said we shall see what we get, last year I presume we were ready as we sold 21.5K tickets? the suggestion that this year we won't be if we sell less is laughable but if you want to discuss further head over to the expansion forum, be happy to talk about why Perth is ready for an NRL team!

Agreed the NRL does appear clueless at times. It should be trying to maximise crowds and you would think that means clubs like Canberra playing more home games whilst the weather is nicer in ACT and Cowboys playing less at home till it drys out a bit. You can;t control the wetaher but you can try to minimse the risk. Still a long way to go in the running of our game!

The Titans will never ever have a sub 10k crowd. Not because they'll never have less than 10,000 come through the gates.

I've suspected the Tits have fudged a few crowds to save themselves from embarassment. This week it was obvious.

Don't you realise the NRL don't give a stuff about the fans or teams? I agree that the scheduling is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as when my team had to play their opening game on a stinking hot, humid afternoon at 1pm after the NRL had said weeks earlier that no QLD team (moreso Brisbane and Gold Coast as Cowboys don't play day games at home) would be hosting afternoon matches in the first few rounds during the daylight saving period. And then the same thing happened the following year when the Broncos played the Warriors...that's the NRL for you.

Looking at the highlights of the titans game. I dont see what all the fuss is about, looked about the same as last week and don't see how some people are saying its fudged. I think the problem is that the colours of the seats, like at the SFS and ANZ amplify and stand out on tv more than say at the MCG or Etihdad where they are that dull gray colour.

Looks good in Auckland.

Parra V Penrith next week could be embarrassing crowd wise.

They actually had an investigation last year and found that to be the case, but said something along the lines of "processes are in place to ensure it does not continue to happen".

I get the feeling, like many grounds, that the majority of people at the ground are on the broadcast side - therefore not visible on camera.
