You are missing the point once again. You get 1 game a year.
You only have ONE chance a year to make an impression.

and I'll be there making an impression! If there will be 19,999 with me we shall see.

Given none of the other bids are drawing 20k I find it interesting you would set that benchmark for us?

Capacity at nib is allegedly 21.5k at mo but yes it would be a squeeze!

its a city of nearly 2 million people. 1.5 million people more than any other bid besides Brisbane. stop making excuses. if you want an nrl team prove it.

That was against the Raiders. The Raiders are lucky to ever have an away game larger than 10k. They just don't draw anywhere.

I'm not going to suggest the GC are doing well at the moment with crowds because they're not. But they would've got 16k in fine weather tonight.

Great call Beave.

5th lowest ever for the Cows.
No surprises there.

Don't tell me they need a roof? ;)

It is pretty baffling how a stadium in North Queensland goes without a roof.
Generally don't need one and we're too far from SEQ for that poxy mole to spend our money up here. Our seasons are the opposite of yours, it's our wet season now and winter is beautiful and dry. We did ask for our early games to be away but the NRL in its wisdom gave us 3 of our first 4 at home :roll:

Why the hell do the NRL persist in having so many Cowboys home games during the wet season? What do they expect?

Exactly. Canberra should have their draw biased towards homes games during this time of year and ours towards the middle of the season. We asked for away games early on, the NRL have only got themselves to blame for tonights crowd in NQ, unless you are up here you don't understand how rubbish the weather Has been over the last 5 days.

I really appreciate your contribution to this forum.

Unfortunately you know the answer to the question that you proposed...

I usually never accept sub-10,000 crowds as an excuse no matter the circumstances - low match appeal, poor form, the weather rain, hail, or shine. But in this rare instance I think we can forgive the Cowboys for a sub-10,000 crowd. An NRL match in this day and age should ALWAYS draw a bare minimum of 10,000 no matter poor form, the weather, or what.

But the weather was THAT bad even watching it on TV, and considering Townsville is a very small town and their fans travel from far and wide from all over North Queesnalnd I think if there was ever a reasonable excuse for a sub-10,000 crowd then this is it.

No excuses for Canberra or Penrith in round 1 though - even though admittedly their crowds were also rain affected, their supporter base is not as geographically vast in the distance in travelling to the game as the Cowboys.

Well done to those who went to the cowboys game. Always will respect those who show up in terrible conditions.

I remember a hunter mariners game I went to in 97(?) that had torrential rain for all 80 minutes. I think they announced 2400 or so but there would have been barely 1000 there, all huddled under one stand.
