Greater than Penrith's home ground average since 2006. In fact there have only been 5 years since 1967 that the home average has been greater

Wow.

It looked more like 17-18k on the tele.

Thats what i thought. Normally the top corners of the west stand have nobody, today they did. Hills weren't packed but i would still have said 16-17k without before the hills resemble a mosh pit.

I worry about what the Eels and Panthers match will draw.

Warriors, Dragons, Cowboys, Storm, Bulldogs, Tigers should all be drawing more than that though. Shame they probably won't.

i dont give a stuff how the teams are travelling, the m4 derby should be getting 20k and up if this game is king in western sydney.

then it's telecast live against the gate on FTA. dont anyone tell me that this doesnt kill crowd numbers.

There seemed a few more than usual in the sunshine on the eastern stand at the start of the Roosters/Canberra game and I thought it might be a half-decent crowd.

Turned out it was half a decent crowd.

Even Rabs alluded to it in the coverage, will be interesting. Of course if it is a shit crowd and i consider shit for this fixture anything under 18k then the game will be crucified by our own press and the afl will run its own headlines spruiking how ever many turn up on saturday.

I've always wondered how many this game would draw if the clubs alternated their home game to ANZ and put a big effort into marketing it? Importantly both sets of members gain entry with season passes!

So it would be Penrith (H) @ ANZ 2012, Parra (H) @ ANZ 2013...... Of course its still played twice a season so the derby has a suburban component every year. Plus it gives the Panthers a marquee game which they along with Cronulla seem to lack. Maybe Sharks and St. George could do the same thing at SFS. Couldn't hurt.

There's a cyclone predicted to form and cause havoc in North Queensland this week. Too early to say for sure but I'd reckon that even if it didn't hit Townsville directly a lot of out-of-towners would be hesitant to make the trip

Glad my Silver Star (3 game) membership picks are later in the year.
