Roosters who are also having a big year got 9k against this mob during the f**king day time and I didn't hear this much whingeing.

Surely the Souths bandwagon would come out by now they show up for the Storm game but since then what does it take for a Souths winning team (for once) to get people to show up. We keep hearing about Souths support this, that, 'pride of the league' talk the talk but don't walk the walk at times. Two Sydney teams and get 19k.:sarcasm:

Broncos was decent but Suncorp look weird on TV when considering the attendance.

A good draw would help, we are playing nothing but cellar dwellers and out of city teams for the next 15 rounds. The first 8 rounds had some blockbusters, but were all away games. We don't have another genuine blockbuster until rd. 24. Before that, maybe we will get a good crowd for the Dragons game? Depending on how they are going

Our draw might make us look good on the ladder from here on, but it is absolute ass for drawing crowds this year.

We haven't played wests yet you imbecile.

How many times do you need to be told that the reason we bag souffs crowds is because of the mythological fan base

Btw our last 3 home crowds against wests were 15k, 20k and 19k. We weren't on top of the ladder in any of those games nor were we having our best season in living memory. We also drew a crowd higher than our membership base.

But you are the most supported club in the known universe and souffs are going well so rugby league must also be going well.

I would have thought the "pride of the league" wouldn't have any trouble pulling a crowd

We've never drawn a sub 10k crowd at home in the history of the Wests Tigers merger.

Pfft who needs facts though when you can back up your opinions with whatever you like...

Mrs Reason and I can normally pick the crowd within 1000 or so. Tonight we both said 30-31 and were pretty shocked with 34k. The southern top being sold explains it, though, because we couldn't see above our head.

Odd how there were plenty of level 5 gaps at the northern end but 2 (?) bays of level 7 open.

Edit: photo 2 of your is almost directly above my level 5 seat!

Photo two I grabbed from a hashtagged instagram photo. I sat with my mates up in 533 rather than our member seats in 332 because there was so much room up there we could.

How strange is it! The weirdest part of it all was that 708 was full and it never fills as it's unlicensed.

I have a few theories though.

There were about 4000 people up there, maybe they decided to plonk the awesome foursomes up in level 7. And leave the remaining 5th teir white for possible full members?

Or

Because it was the train and busway side, they decided to sell the rockups upstairs rather than make them walk around the other side. (This still weird because 509, 514 and 515 weren't sold)

Whatever the hell was going on was so weird! And the pax was 39.5k. Come on Suncorp members! Turn up!

There were people in maroon 719, blue unlicensed 718 and white 717-704 it was so weird.
Blue level 7 never goes on sale until blue sells out. And 638, 526 and 517 blue were empty.
Bonkers.

Ill admit the Broncos are going pretty well this year crowd wise albeit with a strong home shedule so far. Great that they are maintaining there average over 30k when they aren't a gun side any longer

Even with our poor team we seem to be gaining momentum somehow.

Im pissed with the NRLs scheduling. The next two home games will be a bit crap.

Warriors on a Monday night - wtf - probably will get 26-28k now. This fixture can get anywhere from 30-40k depending on the timeslot, weather and form.

Then there is the west tigers on a monday night. That will draw 20-25k.

We don't, we are still getting the highest Sydney crowds each week even without opposition supporter help

Nothing about being a victim, just circumstance of other teams competitiveness. If Dragons, eels or Tigers were performing better the issue would be less significant. I also blame the club for taking the Manly game to Bluetongue stadium, ridiculous move.

There is also an issue with scheduling. We have one Sunday home game all year, almost everything is Friday night. Great for TV ratings, but it conflicts with crowds.

I was about to agree with you, then I thought of the Broncos who play most if not all their home games on a Friday night.

At last nights game they announced that Souths had topped 26,000 members, which to be honest is something we should be proud of.

What we don't know, becaise the club doesnt tell us, is how many of the members are season ticket holders. Given the home crowds of the past two weeks my guess would be the 17-18,000 mark.

Maybe if we were the only NRL game in the city all weekend for every weekend we might get there

You took up 4000 seats.
 well played.

We got belted in the two subsequent games (or should I say the dogs game and the sharks because the crowd didn't know we'd get smacked in advance of the dogs game) and there was a $10 ticket promotion for your game.

Stop hating Souths so hard and you might be able to look at things with a bit of perspective.

FFS I'm sick of this cop out every time this argument is had. I have Souths fans AGREEING me on Twitter - it's not good enough to only draw in 19,718 against a local team (the one whose head office is within 10 minutes of the ground).

What promotion was done for SOU v MEL that wasn't last night? The crowd in Round 6 was superb, where has that interest gone?

The less excuses and more arses on seats for key games like last night, the less people will criticise Souths.
