Bunniesturd, today was my fourth of six Newcastle home games. I'm basing my assumption on an educated guess related to the attendances at the three other games.

There was more than the posted 18.9k or whatever it was.
Those other games were pre-crackdown.

You have no idea.

People really need to stop comparing inflated BS crowds from before to real crowds post Dave Smiths crackdown. Yes this crowd would have been called 22k before but that didn't make it true.

19k seems right. A lot of the grandstands were quite thinly filled. There wasn't many huge chunks of empty seats but a lot of the sections were far short of packed.

Again with this bullshit throw away comment by weidler about the crowd crackdown

Yes, because you are the seer of crowds.

You keep bleating at our crowds, yet we had the second biggest for the round two weeks in a row.

Keep it coming, because you have absolutely nothing.

just on the sharks

word is, as standard something was busted at cronulla yesterday. ticket machines at one side.
so there may have been more than 12k there.

never the less, i hav eit on good authority that we lied all the time about crowds in the past, and that our "ground record" is not accurate.

so that could be what 12,000 at the sharks looks like.

anyway, the pink goes good. keep it

Population of the Penrith Nepean region
about 300,000

Population of SE Qld
3 million

debate ends here .............;-)

You always end the debate. Then when your point is rebutted, you disappear for a few days and then repeat your original point. Nice.

Interesting how people trying to disparage the best drawing club always make their "catchment" as big as possible and make the underperforming NSW team look like it can only draw people from the same postcode as the stadium. What a strawman that is!

The hypocrisy of people saying that the Broncos must draw their crowds from and area about 250km x 150km, while also saying that those poorly drawing Sydney teams can only draw from a 3 block x 2 block radius, is breathtaking, intellectually lazy and just simply wrong.

Even the reds are averaging 30k this year. Broncos averaging 30k is nothing to brag about with the lack of competition from other potential teams in a 2mill plus region.

30k is nothing to brag about? Nothing to brag about in Sydney full stop then, hey, because you guys are a long way off from having anything like that.

And, for the record, I love the complete lack of logical reasoning, when you say that (a) here is one of the Broncos' competitors for crowds, and then (b) the Broncos have no competitors for crowds.

More talkback radio logic: say the first thing that comes into your mind and **** the logic.

Why do southerns get so much intellectual leadership from the logical abilities of Ray Hadley and Andrew Bolt? Weird.

The Broncos should never draw less than 40k against Queensland teams, save for terrible weather.

Another Raiders fan. It's amusing that Raiders fans want to bag out anyone's crowds, let along the benchmark team's. Following the logic of other posters the Raiders should be selling out every week because there is no team competing for their crowds.

How's that working out for you?

What about the 2.1 million residents of Brisbane?

You mean the 1 million residents of Brisbane? http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/ce...11/quickstat/LGA31000?opendocument&navpos=220

Dingbat.

Regardless of what census covers what for Brisbane. Is Ipswich classed as regional? I was under the impression it is. Yet it's 39km from Brisbane.

Geelong is Regional VIC yet only 5km further out then Penrith is.

Penrith is 57 kms from Sydney. Yet we always get classed as a Sydney team. We aren't our crowds are poor as we are rubbish but we have a population or 300k. Prob 500k if you add the Blue Mountains to it. Not part of the 4m Sydney is

For all the wiki-warriors out there, "Greater Brisbane" does have a population of 2+ million. And it includes Logan, Ipswich, Redlands etc etc. These are not Brisbane per se. And nobody living in those areas would say so.

I thought you Sydney types disagreed with amorphous terms like "Great Western Sydney" but you all want to rely on "Greater Brisbane" when bagging off the NRL's best supported team.

Although I do love "I don't know what this crazy ABS is, but Wikipedia says this..."

So Penrith isn't supposed to draw people from Sydney but Brisbane is supposed to draw people from Toowoomba? FFS.

You're regional if going from the CBD you cannot get to where you are without passing through farmland or bush. Penrith is Sydney ffs.

What you continually fail to understand VoR is that Sydney fans are generally not going to go to games featuring teams they do not support. It's true that some people from Campbelltown go for Manly or some people from Toowoomba support Canterbury but the reality is, supporter bases can basically be averaged to their catchment population (i.e. for every fan of a rival club within the catchment, there is a fan of the club outside it). Therefore comparing catchment areas is a logical way to compare relative support for clubs. I'm not sure what part of this you fail to understand.

That's true for the small clubs. But the big clubs, Souths/Dogs/Parra/St George/Wests have fans all over.

Easts/Penrith/Manly/Cronulla are the segmented ones. Which is why they're the smaller ones.
