The Titans IIRC made an exceptionally shit deal with Stadiums QLD for the ground.

The AFL broke their contract with Stadiums QLD and were given saloon passage to the Metridull stadium.

Shows the benefit of a smart organising body. They should just threaten to play out of Piggabeen for a season to force the governments hand on the matter.

So the answer is no code then...

Our attendances, considering the relative size of the code and the population of Australia, are exceptional by global standards. They can improve, but don't sell them short. Show me a country in the world with Australia's population whose top domestic football league outdraws the NRL, let alone the AFL.

Apologies I should have said clubs in other codes. Agreed re overall population, probably only holland that is better. Australia does have the advantage of concentrated population in few cities compared to other countries though and comparatively speaking populations of 500k per club should be able to draw 20k plus crowds all factors being done well. Crowds are very slowly growing which is great to see and we shouldn't bee too pessimistic we just need to have a concerted effort and strategy to reduce the sub 15k crowds as much as possible.

If the NRL has any sense they will be using the lure of another Nrl club in Brisbane to broker a much better deal for Titans and a new stadium for Cowboys. This is where other codes do so much better than us, they leverage good outcomes for the game off the carrot of pluses for that State. Look at what RU got out of the WA govt and AFL got out of Q'land, nsw and act governments with their expansions.

Not going to happen.

The AFL has spent sports goodwill by absolutely f*cking these governments up the proverbial. It's now a case of once bitten twice shy unfortunately.

Dutch Eredivisie averages just under 20k for a population of 16.7 million(Netherlands)

Do the Titans control the Prices that get charged or is it the Govt through the people who built the Stadium.

They are certainly not cheap! On the gate prices
Adults $57-30
Children $37-20
Family (2+2) $164-88

When you can only third fill a stadium you would think they would look at the main stand opposite the cameras being offered at a cheap price so it looks half decent.

Don't be so sure. We saw with what vic was willing to pay for SOO and what nsw stumped up for the GF that govt's will pay up if they want something. Why not be saying to the wa govt that an NRL team will cost them a new training and hq centre for the warl like they built for RU or that Brisbane will get another team if the q'land govt delivers better deals on stadiums? If you don't ask you don't get!

Point 1) Isn't Metri-con already insulting enough? Why change it in this case?

Point 2) Seagulls Stadium no longer exists.

piggabeen still does. I am suggesting they play on a QLD cup standard ground to spite the QLD government

Gc should really be looking to take games to other grounds

Such as play warriors in Wellington
Play Melbourne at AAmi
Play a home game at Coffs if you have to

Till this deal is over

Be interesting to know if they have a min games per year clause in the contract.

Thus the idea. The QLD government is hardly going to allow them to use a ground in QLD to spite a government agency are they now.

Can not believe people actually tok it literally...god I am bored today.

If you look at each club you could identify which part of the equation they are and are not performing well in.

Yeah each club have different needs. In GC they can get a better deal for the prices. Maybe help in marketing. The airport, Trains & Media up there should be plastered with Titans stuff.

Wheras down here GWS get free transport yet NRL games with 4 x as many don't the NRL can get a deal done for this included. Add that to cheap even kids tickets and crowds will grow.

Im still wanting to know where did the people who showed up to the 32k Storm game go? Can we get the FBI on the case? Did Aliens capture the majority of them?

Weather conditions do have alot to do with whether fans attend games or not!

Its easier for the Dutch though... Is less than half the size of Tasmania.

True but their cities are small, they only have 3 cities over 1/2 mill and none over 1 mill, whilst Australia's population is clustered into just a few population centres with large populations.

Urban Amsterdam has 1.55million (greater Amsterdam 2.33)

Greater Rotterdam is 1.2million.

Edit - these two cities are 73km Apart.
