we simply won't compete with the AFL in the same time slots on the weekend in Melbourne, but we can pull an awesome crowd on a monday night, so we should be looking at more melb monday night games. Hype them up, get people talking about the game at work on monday and with a 7pm kick off you'll get a few who will decide hey maybe I might go and check it out. In the 2nd half i thought there looked to be over 20k there on TV. I was certain the stadium held 31k - can anyone confirm??

On a side note, gee it's a lovely looking stadium, especially when lit up at night. What's it like to watch footy there, good view of the field? Storm and Rebels should consider themselves very luck to have such a great venue.

It's a fantastic place to watch a game. The players are so close you feel like you can touch them. I haven't tried the nose bleed section, but all the spots I have sat you can hear the collisions.

Better than suncorp or titans ground.

Great facilities too. Especially after the old Olympic park and docklands stadiums.

Best stadium in Melbourne, I was up the very back of the GA section last night (brought a mate for free, normal seat is top level on the wing) and the view was still excellent. Only criticism is the screens are a little small but you're close enough to the game that it doesn't really matter.

Was down there a few weeks ago...fantastic ground...very close to the action and it is so easy to get to from the city. Right next to the train station 1 station from the city circle. With 11k there in rd 3 the atmosphere was fantastic. Would like to see them playing in front of 20k crowds regularly in a few seasons time. Something we should be aiming for by 2020 for the storm.

By 2020 I would like to see us looking towards averages such as:

40k - brisbane
30k - bulldogs
25k - souths, tigers, eels, dragons, knights, warriors, 2nd brisbane team
20k - roosters, manly, sharks, panthers, raiders, storm, titans, cowboys, 2nd perth team

All games involving bulldogs/souths/tigers/eels/dragons to draw 40k + with the big ones over 50k (when teams are in form). Other sydney games move their bigger games away from suburban grounds to look at 30k + crowds. The day where a 15k crowd is referred to as rubbish. ATM most 15k games are considered "solid" crowds - we need better!

I don't think it is too far out of our reach with the right marketing and focus on memberships...just need to make the right decisions with scheduling of games.

Agreed. I still get as excited going there to watch the footy after all these games as what i did the first. Our seats are directly behind the Storm bench around 15-20 rows back and won't be giving them up in a hurry. As an added bonus we also have the coaches box behind us and it never gets old turning around watching Bellyache go off his tits :lolFor a final 2 years ago we sat western side upper and while we were around 5 rows from the top it was still a great view and close enough to see clearly what was going on.

Suncorp is a great stadium no doubt and the bottom tiers and a portion of higher tiers are brilliant to watch the game. Though when we were right up near the top youre far too far from the action and the view isnt great imo. That said its a necessity the Broncs and QLD in general have a stadium that size given their regular big crowds so it's inevitable you're gonna some average seating views just like any big stadium in the world.

Broncos V Cowboys 45,000
Roosters V Bulldogs 35,000
Knights V Panthers 20,000
Raiders V Warriors 12,000
Souths V Melbourne 20,000
Manly V Sharks 15,000
Tigers V Dragons 25,000
Titans V Parramatta 15,000

with good weather at all venues theres no acceptable reason why these crowds should not be achieved.

It's bucketing down here in Brissie (my part thereof, anyway) at the moment, and showers/rain are forecast all the way out to Sunday at the moment. Here's hoping that enough tickets have been sold to the rain-shy in advance.

Whatever the roosters/bulldogs crowd is it won’t be good enough for most people and that will be the roosters fault. Additionally the likes of Rothfield, Rebecca Wilson and Bunniesman will assure us the numbers were fudged.

Just think that Friday night is prohibitive to 30k crowds at allianz.

Not to mention that with the Wanderers playing that night, and that a lot of Dogs supporters are also Wanderers supporters and the Wanderers are closer to where a lot of those supporters will be coming from, means I think it will be closer to 25K than 30K+.

Surely the SBW factor over rides the distance thing. Or we would hope

Not for me. I live on the Central Coast and reaching Allianz and finding a parking spot in time, during Friday peak, is just not something I want to deal with.

Not when the atmosphere is likely to be nasty between fans there, not when there'll be everyone booing SBW, and not when prices are f**king ridiculous, not only to attend but to park.

And public transport wouldn't do the trick either. I'm happy watching this one on Nine.

The thing about Suncorp is when you are up high you always have a great view of the stadium. Ive been to many stadiums throughout Europe and america and none of them have that tight feeling that Suncorp has. Maybe Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid - but it almost felt unsafe! And foul amenities.
