The LU perception filter is something to behold. Brisbane with the largest crowds and among the largest memberships are panned instead of praised. Meanwhile park teams in Sydney with a fraction of their support are getting exactly the opposite treatment.

Unbelievable.

if someone has $2 million dollars and lost half of it, you don't pat him on the back about how he has a million, you ask what happened to the other million.

My point being people will be glowing about the Broncos if there wasnt a downward trend there. God knows I would be. In all honesty they should be averaging 40k considering their access to the market.

If you're talking trends, Broncos membership was at an all-time high last year, and crowds have increased by 50% in the last decade. That's the trend.

Of course, if you want to put Brisbane down, you can cut up the graph (like Andrew Bolt's outstanding analyses of climate change) into time frames to suit your argument.

But the trend for the Broncos (and for the NRL as a whole, including Sydney teams that have done great stuff with membership in recent years) is positive.

I'm just saying that objectively, the Broncs are doing well, but there isn't much love for them here.

oh please

praised ... for an average of a bit ova 30K :lol::lol:

there is one side in Brisbane
there are 9 in Sydney

16K X 9 is 151K

meaning the Broncos should be averaging more then double the figure they do

you lot claim to to be the best RL supporters in the world
the fact is

you lot are not even in the ball park
debate ends

Much better that we praise teams with averages under 20k?

there is one side in Brisbane
there are 9 in Sydney

16K X 9 is 151K

meaning the Broncos should be averaging more then double the figure they do

Love this one. Following this logic, each of a million people earning one dollar as as well off as one person earning a million dollars.

you lot claim to to be the best RL supporters in the world

I don't claim to be the best RL supporter in the world. I do claim to support the best attended RL team in the world, though. Do you?

debate ends

Debates end when somebody trots out a stream of illogical non sequiturs?

If two AFL teams in Perth can draw 40k+ crowds I don't see why two NRL teams in Brisbane couldn't be doing the same? Similiary sized, similiar geography/central stadium placement etc. Is RL the number one game in Brisbane or not?

Whilst Broncos are obvioulsy head and shoulders above any other NRL team in terms of supporter base they are hardly ripping it up in comparison to other clubs in similiar situations and even in Brisbane are hardly hammering the Reds or Lions for crowds and members.

They have a great stadium, number one code, massive population to themselves, more money than any other club. Not Broncos bashing, just bemused why they are not better supported?

Why do we care about crowds so much?

I am a league tragic that watches every game, but I'd much rather do so on Telly or at the pub because you don't get ripped off and you get a better view. I know you lot can't fathom this idea, but I'm well and truly not the only one who feels this way. Comparing crowd sizes is a stupid gauge of popularity.

Money, popularity, atmosphere, even if you watch it on TV you can't tell me it isn't more enjoyable watching a game where the stands are full and the crowd is loud compared to watching a game in an empty stadium with the refs whistle echoing around the place.

I agree, it looks better, but it doesn't bother me enough to obsess over it like everyone else does.

At the end of the day, I'd rather watch it on Telly - especially because you usually can watch two games that way (3 on a Saturday). If you go to the game you generally miss other games on that day because you're stuffing around with transport to and from the game.

we knew you would teddy

Just looking at Rugby League Stats site and last year most teams had very ordinary and poor crowds apart from Newcastle and Bulldogs.if it was SOO/Finals and the 2 tests between NZ alongside some one off games for most teams that crowds where strong.
i hope crowds will improve but worried about Sydney having 2 SOO as in the past both games have not sold out.

Last year we had basically as good crowds as we have ever had so it's kinda hard to complain too much. Your last sentence makes no sense. So your worried that crowds won't improve because there will be 2 SOO in Sydney and they don't always sell out. You do understand that even when they don't sell out they still pull bigger crowds than the capacity of suncorp? Not saying the crowds are more impressive but in terms of numbers they are bigger.

In general terms of how the NRL is performing crowds wise i think SOO is mostly irrelevant anyway.
