If I lived in Sydney I would be going to both Bunnies v Bulldogs and Eels v Tigers. Regardless of weather.

This is what membership need to target I think. Joint membership programs.
I've been to various different games this year regardless of who's playing because its a good way to spend a day. If clubs joined together and said okay our season tickets will get you into home games of these 2 clubs I think more would be sold. Bigger crowds + bigger membership numbers.

Keep in mind guys that last years Good Friday game was subject to a lot of speculation about the crowd number

I have heard it was inflated by about 6k

And having seen some other semis with 50,000 posted as a crowd

I would agree that it did look high

arent your the person who couldnt tell there was 24k at the SCG 2 weeks ago?

maybe you should leave your computer for 5 mins and actually go to a game

looking good for monday, for cat 1 they are selling up in the 400s already, and looks like a fair bit of those has gone already. if they can sell a lot of GA seats down the bottom, that will be the key though, they make up a lot of the available seats

To get 50,000 at ANZ when in general admission form there needs to be some people in one of the level 6 wings.

got a funny feeling the friday game will disappoint with crowd numbers, everyone is assuming it will get similar to last years, it might well not.

the momentum seems to be with the monday game, and if neutrals are only going to one game, theyll probably go for the monday one

hope im wrong and we see 40k at each, or maybe more.

hopefully its not 35k at each

Can we just get rid of the hills please. The only way a hill works is in perfect conditons, any sort of weather and those who normally go to the hills stay away. Covered grandstands going forward please

Hills at grounds are a good thing!
They offer a very relaxed atmosphere and are a culturally significant experience for the Aussie footy follower.

Granted when it rains it is difficult but just go and ask what a great time was had by the patrons on Leichardt's hill at the recent game against Manly.

It was awesome and the fans will keep coming back for the experience.

You put a plastic seat scenario in and you don't get the same experience. It becomes very regimented and lacking a "fun" aspect. This is why fans love going to grounds with hills. Its an important cultural experience.

I had a Melbourne "Aust. rules" fan tell me once: "I like how the rugby league still play at the suburban grounds. It's much better than the plastic feel you get going to games in Melbourne!" Something to assess when trying to rid our grounds of the good old hill?

These people who talk about how great it is sitting on the hill in the cold and wet and how shit it is sitting on plastic seats in the dry and warm conditions of a stadium are the same people who, instead of actually going to the game, would rather sit in the Leagues Clubs on the plastic stools, in the dry and warm.

Reproduce these decent conditions in a stadium and sure the tradionalists will bitch but at least they might actually show up...

Yeh I've seen barely any promotion for the Friday night game.

Compared to the Eels & Tigers game which has been all over my Facebook & Twitter feed.

You'd hope the two primary tenants of the ground could considerably outdraw the two out of towners so to speak.

and yet, the people in Melbourne have voted with the bums and more turn up at the all seater stadiums then ever turned up a the suburban grounds.

Etihad averages 34,000 most of the suburban grounds averaged 20000 or generally less. sometimes much less. Arden st 13,000 and western oval, 17000.

the MCG averages 46000 since 1997.

he might think that, most other people enjoy the comfort and facilities of the two stadia, one indoor.

Died in the wool fans love (and will romanticize) suburban grounds. General population prefers comfort.

I love the suburban grounds but that's generally the reality of the situation

suburban grounds are way over rated. even if the weather is perfect parking is awful.

they should use surburban grounds as sparingly as possible.

even in the best weather conditions they are only ok, if it rains (last weeks crowd was unusual at LO) its lucky to be 10k

Allianz or ANZ needs a roof then we need to get most clubs playing games there.
