Ffs, why are people so negative?

The weather in Sydney has been awful, I think it's great we have had people turn up to the games in the conditions we have had.

Record crowd at Brookvale is actually 27655 on the 31st August 1986 vs the Eels.

Suity

I never said the Manly/Canberra match was the record crowd at Brookvale.

Anyways, will Brookvale Oval get its long-awaited redevelopment or not? How much longer can the Sea Eagles afford to play out of a run-down crapshack?

Can't believe there is only one Sunday arvo match next week. The Monday night match should've been moved to Sunday 2pm. Very poor scheduling and something that needs to reviewed when the tv rights deal expires. Fox Sports and their stupid Monday night matches. MNF should never be played before Origin.

I agree with a previous poster that the extended gap between U20s & 1sts is ridiculously long. It annoys me every time.

I hate MNF also.

Worst possible fixture on a Monday night as well. Penrith v titans, lucky to get 7k

What? Is it really Panthers vs Titans next Monday night? Oh dear....another sub-10k crowd coming up here.

I'd be prepared to take slightly less money from Fox Sports in the next tv rights deal if it meant replacing MNF with Sunday night 6/6:30pm. MNF is great to watch on tv (if you have Foxtel), crap for going to. And to think that I read in another forum about the AFL fans kicking up a stink over having a few Sunday night games this year...wait until they get regular Monday night games and we'll see whether or not they'll continue to boast about how great their crowds are. It will also have an impact on their crowds as well.

Monday Night Football works in the NFL, but not in Australia. Monday Night Football = crowd killer.

that warriors crowd is really excellent

wonder what kind of crowd theyd get at eden park if the side was a consistent one

The NRL should play the Storm/Warriors ANZAC clash at Eden Park sometime in the future. It would be great to schedule two ANZAC day games. With proper promotion, Eden Park could easily get 35-40k

2pm AEST Warrriors vs Storm at Eden Park
4pm AEST Dragons vs Roosters at Allianz

great idea

except the storm have taken that as their marquee event, id hate for them to lose it

at 6 pm they can get some AFL fans after their game is finished, it does get a fairly good crowd down there.

Yeah, I understand it is the STORM'S marquee event, but surely they could give the folk from across the ditch a go as well. Rotate it between Auckland and New Zealand.

On the topic of the game in Melbourne, do you think the ANZAC game should eventually be moved to Etihad if there is enough demand for it?

Anyways, I'm looking forward to see 100k+ fans through the gates on ANZAC day:

40k at Allianz
~25k at AAMI
at least 35k at Suncorp.

I really don't know how many will turn out at Suncorp.

Last time 100k+ fans went through the gates in one day was the '99 GF (108k).

Good crowd in New Zealand it didnt look like much before the game. Over 22,000. You can understand why theyre playing more games in Wellington and Eden Park.

Hopefully Easts and Saints have solid performances next round, aiming for 40k three years in a row on ANZAC Day.

Not sure if it will impact the crowd, but the A-League could have Sydney fc vs. Wanderers at ANZ Stadium on ANZAC Day. Depending on how results go.

actually thats a fair call to rotate it between melbourne and nz, because the dragons and roosters do rotate the fixture (albeit its still played at the SFS)

it would probably sell out eden park, i like it.

GayLeague crowd tonight was 15k. Pretty poor considering it was the last regular season game and Sydney were playing for a finals spot.

Mm. I think Melbourne should continue to host their clash with the Warriors. I think the game is worth more to the NRL in Melbourne as it further exposes the club to the Melbourne public and also helps the Storm coffers, which I believe the NRL are still putting cash into. (unless of course the gate takings are shared, which I'd be surprised about.

The next NZ team should host their ANZAC Day clash in NZ, either at Wellington or Christchurch. Would have the same benefits as Melbourne hosting their ANZAC Day match.
