Will the NRL game out rate the Origin?

Sunday arvos at Suncorp were good days, game over by 4 or 5pm depending when it started and then to the Caxton or Paddo or plenty of the other bars around. Hopefully once this tv deal is over and if we get a 2nd Brisbane team, Sunday arvo at Suncorp will be back

News hasn't hit Peth yet....

Courier mail is thrashing a $60 family ticket for 4.

Unheard of for us Broncos peeps. Give us all $15 tickets and it will hit 40k, students will cream their draws.

They might want to promote it on their website! Gen admission 1adult 1 child $62 maroon on the website.

2 players knocked 4k off the crowd? I'd suggest cronulla's form was by far the over riding factor for another sht crowd.

Origin is perfect right where it is on a Wednesday night.

I couldn't care less what day of the week origin is. But it needs to be standalone. We weaken club footy unnecessarily.

As well as fans and members not getting their moneys worth you have a flawed competition when some teams have their team gutted for 6 weeks while others are untouched. When some teams have helpful byes while others have inconvenient byes.

Get rid of the Anzac game and byes, replace them with 3 standalone weeks. It would be good for crowds, good for ratings, good for fans, good for players. Win win win win.

I think we should probably cut out club footy for 3 weeks altogether. Would do the rest of our players the world of good. Just play all origin games on a Sunday afternoon.

We have tried this, doesn't work. Fans don't like it and hated it when it was tried!

Play a Pacific Four Nations (NZ, Sam, Fiji, one of PNG/TON) on the 3 weekends where you have stand-alone Origin for more content. Or play a NZ v Pacific (combination of Samoa, Fiji, PNG, Tonga) three-game series.

There are creative ways to get around this problem of no content on stand-alone Rep weekends.

So a bunch of dud games. I am sorry but how about NO. I would rather watch the Broncos with half our players than watch teams I have no interest in watching. The Origin week allows you as fans to see the next breed of stars getting a taste of first grade.

Nonsense. Tonight was one of the unsatisfying wins we've ever had in recent times because we had crap reserve graders (e.g. Reddy) playing for us.

And if you want to see the next breed of stars, make the U20s SOO a three game series and play it on the Saturday night before a Sunday Origin.

It seems the NRL & Origin has created a prisoner's dilemma around this period for the administration and fans.

There are three options to take during the Origin period

A: (No club games during Origin)
B: (Origin/Club games at the same time)
C: (Club games remain intact, Scrap Origin).

Option A occured in 01 only for fans to complain about the lack of club footy and from a administration perspective the fear of the 'free kick' to the other codes would be foolish to give away.

Option B is the balance option it which fans get club footy albeit lower standard which in turn effects ratings and attendance while Origin remains.

Option C will never happen as Origin is the jewel crown of the NRL and would harm the NRL's TV revenue, ratings, etc. However, club games will remain full strength throughout the entire NRL season hypothetically thus attendances and ratings won't be duly effected.

The administration chose Option B at the moment since A/C is too risky and B is the safe option. While from a fan perspective A/C would cause complaints and dissatisfaction if implemented. B would be the best option for both at the moment.
