NSW teams are responsible for majority of the embarrassing sub 10k crowds that plagued the competition and give it a bad look. Getting sub 10k crowds between two NSW teams is just terrible for self-proclaimed 'heartland'.
More games would be my suggestion. Lots more choice. Yet with 3 times as many games as QLD NSW draws around 75% per match of the average of the much more scarce QLD matches.
How is it that a club like the Broncos, in a catchment 4 times larger than any NSW side has, can't pack out Suncorp consistently? What the f**k is happening at Townsville and the Gold Coast? 6-7 years ago the per-match disparity would have been more like 60%. Why is the gap being closed but the relative amount of matches per state still relatively the same?
Manly for all there success can't even average 16k, at best 15k throughout the past seven years. The crowds Manly are getting for all there success is pretty low for such a successful team what's the excuses t-ba.
I've got none. We're not a big, well supported club. I'd go as far as saying we are an historical anachronism from the era of Suburban football. Ten years ago I was convinced we'd be playing out of Kawana Waters by now. We're a club from a small catchment who just happens to highly successful. And we're in the black with our financials improving year on year . I wouldn't trade our situation for a club like Souths in a heartbeat.
What would you prefer? premierships and a stable, plodding future or 50,000 through the gates every week and nothing to show for it?
As a disclaimer, I think Heartland discussion is a bit geniused. But bullshit comments like the ones made before just rustle my jimmies.
