I'm sure most of the public servants, therefore a lot of their fan base got out of Canberra when they could for the long weekend and if they are smart they took the 3 for 10 deal going on with the long ANZAC weekend next week
So, what lesson can be learn from this "experiment" for next year's draw?
People have come to the conclusion that during the Easter period, Easter Sunday is the worst day for crowds hence why the NRL played it safe and there was only one game this year. However, if it didn't work in Canberra this year (regarding the poor crowd), where should it be held next year? In a suburban Sydney ground like Leichhardt to ensure it gets a good turnout?
However, what isn't going to work is if Fox Sports is going to persist with MNF during the Easter round next year, they're going to have to put a much better matchup than Penrith vs Gold Coast. Bad decision and I hope another sub-10k crowd doesn't eventuate because of this poor planning.
