Point to a higher crowd than 42k in the last decade then.

Are you seriously going to tell me there has never been a sell out at the SFS in the last decade?

Like I said, 2013 & 2012 were sell outs.

The 45k capacity is a myth.

Agree.

Show me a 45k SFS crowd in the last 10 years then I'll be convinced.

Why would the SCG trust lie about their own capacity??

Im not saying they didn't sell out, Im saying that the capacity is more than 42k.

General admission ticketing drops attendance.

Doing a comparison of crowds from one year to the next, part way through a season, is troublesome. What if the big drawing games are stacked at the beginning of one year, and then at the end in the next?

I've tried to remove this distortion by only comparing crowds where an equivalent game was played in both 2013 and 2014. Eg, Broncos at home to Cowboys drew 42,556 last year and 42,303 this year.

Of the 56 games played so far, there was an equivalent game played at some stage in the year last year on 46 occasions. For the other 10 games, when the teams played, it was at the away team's home ground.

The total of those 46 games was 758,269 in 2013 and 750,599 in 2014. This equates to a fall of 1.0% or 167 per game.

The biggest fall was Souths vs Roosters, which fell from 59,708 to 27,282.

The biggest rise was Eels vs Tigers, which rose from 12,013 to 50,668.

Surely capacity is the number of people that fit when you've sold every ticket?

There have been multiple sell outs including ANZAC Day games, A league grand finals and derbies, a wallabies match vs wales I think. Any of those crowds hit 45k?

40-42k is it

Would come down to corporate/ members.

Both A league grand Finals sold out at Suncorp, along with the Storm semi in 2008 and the Dragons semi in 2009 - these crowds were 50,000. 2,500 missing.

When Suncorp sells out it sells out.

Just look at Origin. 52,000 plus every time. Sometimes just a few seats off the 52,500 capacity.

There is no doubting Suncorp's capacity thanks to Origin.

What I don't get is where they fit the 1,500 standing room capacity. All I can think of is the bar behind the goals at one end, and that fits a couple of hundred at most.

I am fully aware of that. I was an attendee for all of them.

Bledisloe's also.

Aleague final between WSW vs CCM in 2013 was jam packed in and was the hottest ticket in town.

43k+ turned up, the capacity is 45ish.

Can't you see you're still proving the point that's it's not 45.5k

If it was jam packed and hottest ticket in town, why were there 2500 empty seats?

Answer: there weren't

Haven't seen it mentioned yet (could have missed it though), the queens birthday weekend has no marquee game on the Monday avo. Instead there is the raiders at home to the broncos on Monday night (raiders get long weekend again). Missed opportunity much? Real pity I think.

The only 'attractive' feature game they could shift to mon avo for that weekend is dragons / sharks, but given the draw is already released, the gong side of the dragons wouldn't be happy. Otherwise eagles/dogs?

Jam packed except for the top deck, western side. (members Area). Empty seats clearly visible on parts of the coverage. I was there. Saw them myself. The ground wasn't full.
In saying that, I too, doubt the 45500 stated capacity.

From memory that game was sold out quickly. They were hit hard by scalpers.

I was there and I can assure you there were probably a good 2k worth of empty seats - ends of the top decks on either side had swathes of seats empty. likely members i think.
