The schedulers at the NRL suck! Every Friday night and Sunday afternoon outside of origin stand down weekends should feature the biggest Sydney v Sydney games. That's 46 games. The stand down origin games should be v out of town teams which always draw sub 20k anyway.

How hard can it be?

NRL don't do any of the scheduling of matches during the rouns. It is done by 9 and Fox to maximise TV viewers

Surely they can. If Fox has a game on the Sunday but NRL want it on Sat. Provided the other game can switch. What difference does it make to Fox?

Yeah nah, this was a Dogs home game bro, sorry.

Also - Dogs and Souths both average shitloads more than Parramatta in terms of crowds.

Hi welcome.

Eels crowd average: 19,448
Dogs crowd average: 15,693

Souths are currently on 22,852 - so you're right, they seem to be doing well.
However the Eels average 31k as the 'home team' at Homebush, or 27,878 in any game they've played at the venue.
Clearly Homebush is a popular venue for Eels fans to come along and watch footy games. I know they aren't playing the Cowboys there, who knows how miniscule that crowd might be? But then again, a bigger ground gives more opportunity for attracting different sorts of people to the crowd. Ultimately we can't know how they would go there as a full time team, since their current goal is to have Parra upgrade to 30k+ seats.

They average that much because they only play matches there against high drawing opponents. They wouldn't get that much against teams like the Gold Coast

Some teams draw better than others and they've got their 'prime time slots'

Melb Storm fans better not disrespect the special one with a 11-12k crowd next weekend, the special one playing in Melb is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the people of Vicderpia,Storm should be kicked out of the comp if its not a sellout.

That Eels average is quite concerning given it includes a 50k figure from Easter. LESS than 20k as a result of the rest of your matches since, ouch.

Not to mention the diabolical decision to keep the Souths game in R20 at Pirtek

Meanwhile, we still have home matches against the Tigers and South Sydney (reciprocal rights) to come - plus a juicy looking R21 clash with Penrith... and our average after yesterday actually sits at 16,881.

I'm starting to agree with the assessment that GC is AFL country now.

Partly because all the Victorians move there, partly because of the Suns recent success and partly because the Titans don't IMO engage well with the public, also the CoE probably pissed off a lot of people.

You can't just write it off though, they have to do something more.

PS Robina is a fine stadium, in a shit location

What can they do? Drop Cartright? Give the Titans the same salary cap legups as they're proposing for Canberra? The GC isn't exactly an undesirable location for a young Rugby League player to live in.
