what a surprise perry talking it down...

Manly hope game gets 19k then they could lobby for games at brookvale where 18k can fit in...

what a surprise petty club squabbles holding the game back... that's been happening for 106 year..

Is RL as a whole always been full of selfish people ?

Life cycle of an NRL fan this week-

I'm so excited my teams in finals
Captain call thing was really good
Better get tickets
Oh manly fans are whining about game
Oh Cronulla is a zoo of a club says Phil rothfield
Oh TV ratings are down millions this year says Josh massoud
I'm still kinda excited
Oh not many fans can be arsed going to most games . Says dean Ritchie
I'm sorta pumped
Should I bother going ?

News ltd media doing their best to kill any buzz this week

This is the first year I can`t get to Melbourne to watch Storm in the final But excited that Gem are showing the game live in sadelaide on Sunday

Yeah that's my read into it, I hope it's over 30k just to rub their faces in it.

I remember in 2009 the farce of a fame at kogarah between the dragons and parra. It got 16.5k that must never be allowed to happen again. That game was easily 30k+ at Allianz or anz

By the same token, if Manly and the Roosters win this weekend, and then Souths win next week, it would mean a Roosters v Souths prelim. Would they move that to ANZ? Surely they would have to - you would get 70k to that game.

If the favourites win this week, next week will be Manly v Melb and Penrith v Cowboys.

Surely common sense would prevail and the games are played at Brookvale and Penrith.

Penrith MAYBE but no finals at Brookvale, the place is a dead set park ground, it looks dreadful having finals there. No reason both games can't get 30K.

It is about 55km from Penrith to Moore Park. A fair distance for a Panthers "Home" Semi next Friday if we lose tomorrow.

It is quite a distance from Brookvale to the SFS too, Kogarah to ANZ, etc. People should just suck it up. Plus I doubt the NRL has any scope, as it is home region finals weeks 2-3. This idea that teams have 'earnt' a home final is absurd. All you have earnt is the fact you stay in your home state, that is it.

The crowd will be horrible. I'd be surprised if 15k turned up.

if you can't even get fans to show up for a final what good are you? It shouldn't matter what club you're playing. Maybe some of these clubs would be more comfortable in the NSW cup.

I hate to mention this again, but what has been swept under the radar and hasn't received any attention at all in the media since the new tv rights deal commenced last year is Ch9 still being allowed to retain Fri night/Sat night finals in weeks 2 and 3.

In 2008, week 2/3 finals were changed from Sat night/Sunday to Fri night/Sat night as a compromise of the Grand Final being changed from night to twilight/late afternoon. Now since Ch9 got back their beloved night GF last year, it is only fair for the fans that the week 2/3 finals got changed back to Sat night/Sunday. I know Ch9 will NEVER ever allow this to happen under the current tv rights deal (i.e. they'd NEVER swap a Friday night match for Sunday due to ratings, despite the fact the Sunday game would obtain a higher crowd), but this is an issue that definitely deserves more attention when the next tv rights deal commenced in 2018.

RL fans have been screwed over...yet again

This idea that teams have 'earnt' a home final is absurd. All you have earnt is the fact you stay in your home state, that is it.

Distances From Allianz Stadium (shortest route):

Kogarah Jubilee Oval 16.8km
Brookvale Oval 19.4km
ANZ 20.7km
Endeavour Field 26.4km
Parramatta Stadium 26.7km
Penrith Stadium 58.0km

Distances From ANZ:

Kogarah 19.8km
Brookvale 30.3km
Endeavour 28.4km
Parramatta 10.5km
Penrith 42.0km

It's like this. The NRL is trying to make as much money as possible, therefore they want games played before as big a crowd as possible. In the case of a final between North Queensland and Penrith played in NSW, that will be met by playing the match at Penrith. ANZ would be grudgingly acceptable, certainly better than Allianz which is 16km further but twice as hard to get to with the traffic and poor public transport access. Played in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney the crowd for a Penrith home final against an interstate side with little local support will be embarrassing as Penrith supporters rightly boycott the game. A bit like making Brisbane play a home final at Robina.

Since home finals were extended to weeks 2-3 in 2007, I do believe Parramatta had to play their week 2 home final vs Gold Coast at the SFS instead of ANZ Stadium in 2009 IIRC. 28,524 turned out for the match at the SFS. The question is how many would've turned out had it been held at ANZ?
