If it's Manly v Melb and Penrith v NQ to prevent the possibility of having a week 2 finals average of about 14k I could see them going double header. Although a half filled SFS for TWO elimination games would also be pretty sad.

Is the problem is with a top 8 or would fans prefer a top 5 ?

Back in '91 Norths V Penrith (week 1 Major semi) attracted over 38,000
to the SFS.

I prefer the top 5 as you actually have to play well the whole season. Too many average teams make it. I mean I'm a Brisbane supporter but come on we have won half our games, the dogs have barely won a game since July and made it..

That said a top 8 makes more $$$$

Although I myself would prefer to see the top 5 (the top 5 gives the minor premiers the best chance of making the Grand Final and implementing the home finals throughout the series, each team has a distinct advantage over the ones below it), the NRL will never revert back to it as more finals games = more money.

The quality of the finals matches in the top 5 system was better and you didn't have teams scraping into the finals sometimes with a less than 50% W-L ratio (like the Dragons and Raiders did in 2002) and teams who simply aren't finals quality (like the Broncos and Bulldogs this year). Also, not to mention that finals in those days were played on Saturday or Sunday arvo, hence day games being more attractive for fans to attend

The problem is with the modern day armchair fan who has got so used to being lazy and sitting at home to watch on TV that the concept of actually making an effort to support your team seems incredulous to them!

its the finals, , its not that far, as a neutral they should all be reasonable quality games worth going along to if your a RL fan, wtf is wrong with RL fans in Sydney?

I'll go to the SFS ones- I'm a member so I don't have to pay, but I sure as heck aint paying to watch a game at ANZ! I hate the venue!

I reckon the crowd tonight will be 30k. 20k Souths fans 10k Manly fans.

I think there will be about 9-10k Manly fans and 23k Souths. Should be around 33k there.

Crowd will be at least 70percent Souths. Some Manly fans just refuse to cross the bridge as usual. Lots of Souths fans travel from all over Sydney to get to the game, further than what Manly fans would have to travel and stuck in bad traffic as well.

Cowboy fans travel far and wide to 1300 while manly fans can't cross a bridge. For all the success manly had the fans ain't responding whether it's at brookie or at finals time.

Ten News said expected crowd was to be 26,000 tonight. Which would be, um well.

cowboys fans don't need to put up with Sydney traffic.

Firstly after work back to Manly out of the CBD.
Secondly back to the CBD by 7-730.
