Why is this suddenly important enough to have its own thread outside of the crowd watch one?

45k for the same 2 teams 10 years ago.

Good point. Only difference from memory is that game was preliminary final.

I remember a couple of years ago manly played the Cowboys in the first round and I think the crowd was like 18 000 at the SFS.

The Cowboys are not a great draw in Sydney. But because this match is going to be a cracker, I suspect this might draw alot of casual fans to the game who don't support either team.

So it won't be a big crowd but if it is it isn't because of the cowboys but it's due to casual fans bigging up the crowd figures.

I expect we are probably not expecting a crowd too big? I've been told Cowboys and Titans games in Sydney are not a big draw.

Broncos are probably different kettle of fish. The fact would be a fair few Brisbane fans living in Sydney because of their massive following and some of the historical rivalry it's had against Sydney teams over last 25 years.

Any thoughts?

Thoughts?

Yeah, people who don't courtesy wave in traffic shit me to tears. Just give a quick wave to acknowledge a good deed done you ignorant f*cks!!

Thanks. Feel better now.

it's always something, if your crowds are that fickle the club is doing things wrong.

Supporting two clubs in separate codes makes a person fickle?

Surely we can talk about things that are going to affect crowds positively or negatively in here... reality is Sydney is a very competitive market & Moore Park is the home of the Roosters, Waratahs, Swans & Sydney FC. A lot of our fans are also strong supporters of those clubs. The number of SCG Trust members who show up will be smaller than had the games been on separate days... that's just the reality of it.

On a positive note I've noticed a lot of neutral RL Fans are pretty keen to go to this game. Personally I've already organsied a group of 10 to go with this week when it's usually more like 4 or 5.

The AFL would undoubtedly have the same problem of even poor man men's shed pissups with proper food now with big screens, PVR's with unlimited replays, not having to endure all the nasty aspects of getting to the game, etc, etc. . . . has ever improving technology affected their attendances. If it has, what sense is there in talking about crowds

You would think that but in reality it's not really the case. To give you a hypothetical example say 16,000 people show up on an average Saturday night to watch the Rabbitohs play either the Broncos or Cowboys.

Say they play the Cowboys then out of the 16,000 there will probably only be about 100 Cowboys supporters if even that.

If they play the Broncos then maybe you'll get 700 Broncos supporters. SO all in all the Broncos do get a lot more support in Sydney then the other QLD sides but not a whole lot more.

I thought you promised to limit yourself to your little column. Get back to the Popeye Gazette.
