I am expecting 25k Panthers fans to make the trip for the Preliminary Final. The result on Saturday has really rallied the community. Most thought we would go out in straight sets due to the injuries. Now we are a chance of winning the comp!

100%... The M4 will be buzzing that night!

Penrith V Manly @ ANZ = 50K (25K Penrith, 15K Manly, 5K Neutrals, 5K Stadium members/Sponsors etc)

Penrith V Bulldogs @ ANZ = 70K (25K Penrith, 35K Bulldogs, 5K Neutrals, 5K Stadium Members/Sponsors etc)

Week 2

Roosters v Cowboys 27k

The Roosters got 23.5k on Saturday against a Penrith team that appeared to have considerable support. Next week they face a Cowboys team that might bring 1000 supporters, but that'd be it. In addition they are in direct opposition to the AFL preliminary final at ANZ, and considerable numbers of Roosters supporters could also be expected to be Swans supporters. Perhaps Manly and the Dogs have a few Swans supporters too but the Swans are an Eastern Suburbs club and I'd be surprised if all other Sydney clubs combined had more Swans supporters than the Roosters. In addition, Roosters/Swans supporters will be expecting the Roosters to be able to be watched the following week against the Rabbitohs.

The NRL really should have made this the Saturday night game, to give Cows supporters time to get to Sydney and in particular to avoid the Roosters clashing with the AFL.

I think the Friday night game will be extremely hard put to get 20,000. Saturday will pack the joint with the Bulldog Army. The NRL are very fortunate the Bulldog$ won yesterday.

Shh you are making too much sense.

Saturday would have been better for the roosters/cows game but they couldn?t do that due to the bulldogs playing Sunday. At the end of the day it all goes back to channel 9 refusing to have any team other than souffs on a Friday night.

How many panthers fans were at the game on Saturday, compared to Manly on Friday? Estimates?

There was twice as many Panthers fans as there was Manly fans. And our game was on a work day (yes some Souths fans work).

That's not even remotely close to being true. Manly had sold out their CAT 1 & supporter bays by Wednesday. Penrith didn't sell out their supporter bay until Friday night and the large majority of their CAT1 tickets from bay 36 ended up getting sold to Roosters fans & General Public.

Fair play to the Penrith fans who made the trip, they were loud and brought a lot of colour, best I've seen from any opposition support group this year @ the SFS but they only ended up taking about 3 bays.

Somewhere between 3-4k Penrith fans.

Can't comment on Manly as I wasn't there but the fact they'd sold out a supporter bay & two CAT 1 bays by Wednesday you can make the reasonable assumption that there were more. Which is fair enough too, they had almost half the distance to travel.

Really? Granted I wasn't at the game but it looked more then 3-4K throughout the stadium on TV.

Hopefully more than 20k of us turn up, that win against the Storm will encourage a lot od dogs fan and hopefully they head out. Also, with it being on the Saturday it leaves plenty of time to get there from wherever people are coming from, im hoping for a crowd of 35k with at least 25k dogs fans there

Panthers was buzzing on Saturday. Great vibe in the area at the moment.

Reminds me of 2003 a bit.

When the crowd got announced with 15 to go, Phil Gould commented that as far as he could see there must be 20k souffs fans.

Phil neglected to mention that at 40-0 down a lot of Manly fans had left the ground.

Congratulations to Manly for having the biggest crowd of the weekend for their home final. Magnificent effort. Outdrew Roosters who also had a home final but then they don't travel, even to their home ground.

Don't forget that there were no trains between Penrith and Blacktown on Saturday. It took my nephew more than 2.5 hours to travel in by bus/train/bus. The only benefit was that it was free. I drove in and took 1.5 hours and then paid $25 to park.
It was one of the best away crowds I have been with for many a year. The noise we made was incredible! A pity we don't do it at home!
