If Manly win Roosters and Souths will get a chance to beat that next weekend.

If Manly wins, Roosters vs Souths will be at Allianz since it's a Wk1 'home ground' final for the Roosters. It would've been at ANZ Stadium if it had been wk2 or 3.

I was surprised it was announced as that. From the tv angles shown, I wouldn't have said anything over 27k at most

I sat in the upper deck on the Eastern side and could see that the opposite members' area was very close to full. Underneath me, god knows how many people chose to stay around the bar area and watch the game on the screens. I can only assume that was common theme around the stadium as is often the case at a wet SFS.

Tomorrow will be lucky to get 20k. The biggest AFL final is tomorrow in Melbourne which draws 85K not to mention front and back page news!

Genius move to have this as a Storm home game on Week 1 of the AFL finals.

If the weather is anything like it was last Sunday at Brookvale Oval, Hunter Stadium will easily get 22-25k if they managed to get 18.5k vs Parramatta on a gloomy Saturday arvo last week.

Knights parra game had a finals spot on the line...............Knights dragons has no meaning whatsoever..................lucky to crack 20k.

Hawthorn and Geelong were going to play Friday 2 months ago! Was a ridiculous move to go up against it.

Yeah, because it was absolutely certain 3 teams would finish equal on 68 points and Sydney would be 2 percentage points better than Hawthorn...

3rd and 4th are guaranteed a home final in the later weeks whether they win or lose. So yes, ANZ is guaranteed a week 2 or 3 home final with South Sydney finishing in 3rd.

Someone was making the assertion that should roosters play souffs in a week 2 or 3 final it would be at ANZ regardless of who the "home" team is. Under the rules we have the right to play our home game at SFS although I could see the NRL forcing us to ANZ.

Timmah, I think the poster I was replying to was referring to a Roosters v Souths 2014 finals match (excluding the Grand Final) being played at ANZ Stadium. Under the NRL's rules it is possible that it could be at ANZ, but the home team is always the higher ranked team, as such if Roosters v Souths happened in say week 3 of the finals, the Roosters would be the home team and I'll bet a fair slice the game would be played at the SFS and not ANZ.

If you are the home team, you have the right to play a "home city" final, that means either Allianz or ANZ, whichever most pleases the NRL. Exactly the same as all the other Sydney teams.

Didn't matter where they finished- the bigger drawing match was always the Friday Night game, that was ALWAYS going to be Hawthorn/Geelong and seeing that there was a 2-3 game gap between 3 rd and 4th 2 months ago it would be reasonable to assume one of Hawthorn or Geelong (if not both) would be on Friday. This is exactly the reason the NRL needs a rolling last 3 rounds. Watch the game tonight get 16-17k, and people say 'terrible crowd'. They could have avoided this by switching the Storm's last 2 rounds.
