Yep.

Further proof that the premiership- winning Swans should stick to the SCG full-time, especially when the redevelopments are completed.

The days of 50k plus crowds at ANZ are long gone despite all the freebies.
Yep 2012 is long gone.

On topic, Souths v Easts will be the biggest regular season standalone game crowd in NRL history.

Can somebody please tell me why the NRL do not apply for the major event status for all souths and dogs games at ANZ

It seems once this is granted it opens up access to free rail tickets. Road closures. Free police. City wide signage. Trains that actually run to the $100 million train station

They will both now average over 22k at the ground

And swans and warratahs seem to get it for all games. With not that bigger average

NRL History ... post 1998 biggest is the Dogs Bunnies this year 51,686

NSWRL/ARL/NRL history ... post 1908
its 58,593 Broncos Dragons in 1993

It won't get near the all time
I'd doubt it will get to the NRL record either.....

I hope I'm wrong.

By NRL history I include NSWRL/ARL/SL because their stats are part of the NRL.

I'm very confident it will beat 51686 and I could see it beating 58593.

Unlikely to be over 40k next week. I thought it would get heaps but the 29k that showed up to the souths dogs game when there was over 10,000 free tickets given out to that game (bulldogs ticketed members) doesn't really give much confidence.

If it was a Saturday or Sunday arvo it'd be a high 50's but Friday night you can take off about 10k

Plus it was 27 degrees in Syds yesterday, I think being somewhere else (for me it was the Opera bar) talking to lovely ladies was what a lot had on their mind last night

Probably take off 20k tbh

I would love to see a free to air game on saturday nights, perhaps simulcast on fox sports. That way big matchups like Roosters V Rabbits can be on more attendance friendly day and still on FTA

$5 beer and pie sounds a winner. I would kill for a real meat pie.

The time difference means I have to be strategic with my Friday sickies. Might save them up for thenfinals but this does look appealing...

For mine this would be a match to go to if I was in Sydney. However, the Roosters are sligtly loathed because they are tarred with a smiliar brush to the silvertails one Manly is, and Souths are getting on the nose...it is hardly the fairytale that The Wiggers had for instance...

Every game should be simulcast.

Souths v Easts will get 50000 if the weather is good.

The weather next Friday is supposed to be good, if not a little too warm. So weather should not be a problem.

But as I have said elsewhere I don't see this game getting 50,000. More like something around the 30-35,000 mark.

Please Sam don't make ridiculous comparisons with a code that does not concern us.

Can you imagine Richmond playing Carlton in a minor Premiership and AFL fans jumping up and down if they outdrew the Storm playing a mid sized Sydney club in a relatively meaninless game? That is wht you are doing in reversal.

AFL draw bigger crowds than NRL. This is both true and totally irrelevant to our sport. Comparison only makes us seem like we have a chip on our shoulder because we draw smaller crowds.

Agree. I follow both codes and as a Hawthorn supporter thought 38K was a great crowd. In fact 38K is solid in just about any sport anywhere in the world. I don't know how many 30K+ NRL crowds there have been this season, but the biggest crowd I have EVER seen Storm play in front of is 33K.
Also, it would cost the AFL a fortune to have all of their ANZ games run as 'major events' - but it would surely have a positive effect on crowds. Should the NRL invest? Yes of course.
Swans fans would agree that ANZ is better for rectangle sports. Hopefully after 2016 they can play all games @ SCG and they can reconfigure ANZ for its major tenant.
Crowds at most sports are increasing. Time to stop comparing.

It might be saturday afternoon here

But its a 'saturday evening' kickoff across the ditch

I dont see why people complain theres a game in another country on at 5pm their time?

I saw the Storm play in front of 108,000 once.
