Official Release: State of the Game 2009
http://nrl.com/Portals/0/docs/State%20of%20the%20Game%202009.pdf
Season aggregate up to round 25 -
2,935,181 +
17,375 at SFS +
17,974 at Kogarah +
14,879 at Cronulla +
14,734 at Mt Smart +
14,165 at Brookvale =
3,014,308 (189 games so far + 3 games to go = 192 games). Average: 15,949.

2007 season aggregate = 3,024,149 (192 games)
1995 season aggregate = 3,061,338 (220 games)

To beat the 2007 aggregate we need just 9,841 with 3 games remaining.
To beat the 1995 aggregate we need 47,030 with 3 games remaining.

Roosters vs Cowboys - Fitzy's farewell and a chance to offload the wooden spoon.
Knights vs Panthers - battle for 8th spot, near sell-out.
Broncos vs Canberra - should get 30,000 approx.

We will definitely beat the aggregate for a 16 team comp (2007) and a fair chance of beating the all-time aggregate (1995).

We won't beat the all-time average of 16,466 in 2005 but 2009 will be the 2nd highest average. To get an average of an even 16,000 a season aggregate of 3,072,000 or an additional 57,692 at an average of 19,231 for the 3 remaining games tomorrow.

i'm confident that we'll achieve that

Knights vs Penrith should get 18,300~~
Fitzy's final game.. probably 14-15k
Broncos will surely get 31k

I'm anticipating 63,800 in total for the 3 remaining games

ATTENDANCE at this year's National Rugby League games smashed through the three million mark tonight to be on track for the biggest in the competition's history.

Matches in Auckland and at Brookvale Oval and Toyota Stadium in Sydney pushed the total to 3,014,308 with three games still to be played.
The highest regular season attendance in NRL history was 3,024,149 in 2007.
The highest attendance in the sport's history of 3,061,338 was set in a 20-team competition in 1995.

Somewhat sad that Manly couldn't draw more than the Warriors or the Sharks.

But I guess it was the Warriors, Sharks and Souths fans last chance to see their teams for the year.

But the Warriors Sharks and Souths fans weren't playing for 4th spot and not in the finals, so you can give thems some slack.

Why didnt they just reconfigure Kogarah to a rectangular field perfect for league? why is it even an oval? was it used for cricket back in the day?

Rectangular field, oval field, it doesn't matter. Just get some more stands built. We can't have big games played in front of 18,000.

Kogarah should not be an oval anymore.

Should be rectangular and a bigger capacity.

Agree the corporate facilities are good.

Are they doing anything about that?

Campbelltown are. I was there for my daughters athletic caranival recently and it looks like they are making Campbelltown Stadium an all seater.

If we are to crack the 16k average for the year, the Broncos are going to have to get a crowd of about 35k (highly doubt it)

But we will easily beat the 1995 aggregate as we only needed about 47k coming into today and the Brisbane game will take us past it easily.

Great year for crowds despite all the doom and gloom, well done to all.

SFS. You couldn't beam images of Brookie into 100 million American homes.

hilarious and true.

you dont get balance like that unless you throw a back-handed compliment at a really hot girl.

and now someone said they are officially taking a semi to kogerah. what a joke. they must put something in place this season as late as it is, or early next that states that any semi will be a much better ground.

this game screams "small!"

if I saw brooky or even kogerah as it is during finals (even though its improved a lot), and I wasn't a fan, I'd be laughing...instead I hang my head in shame. thats he best you have, nrl....it doesnt make an occasion.

we are going into a country that throws huge amounts of effort into rotating a super bowl and still have stadiums scrambling to be considered.

If you've been to america, you'd know or europe...when you stand in those large arenas, its like the mcg, but greater, closer. Brooky versus one of those would be an ant hill versus mount everest. how appropriate that brooky has a hill.

And btw, in new york they recently knocked down the old baseball/nfl stadium, shae stadium, that could have brooky trying to fill itself 10 times over just to keep up...and guess what, the new one is even better. the americans will think the game is from hickville. they'd better be impressed by whats on the field, though the lack of atmosphere might make it hard.

another big stadium in new york is the yankees one, and they recently made a new one of that too. there's another nfl stadium in the top of the state, its 80k+ as well.

america likes it big, not ant hills. I think they may struggle - if not see a little potential - with our game.

They get impressed with afl crowds tho.

great crowd at EAS.. i thought the capacity was only 20k given the low-ish crowds we've seen there this year

Broncos vs Raiders match: (according to ticketek)

21nmro5.jpg

not sure what kind of crowd that equates to, but im guessing 30k+at the least

I'd say so. When white goes single seats, its almost always 40k+

My tip would be 30-35k

Looking forward to the 'Kogarah sell-out' headlines during the week.

The reaction will be a big whoooo cares. 18k for that game is embarrassing.

A sell out at Kogarah wont really be impressive, they should be getting it on most occasions as they only play there 6 times a year.
