Really good crowd considering the weather and considering a lot of people are returning to work tomorrow.

Shame Sydney hasn't got a stadium like Etihad in Melbourne where a roof can be closed when it rains. 35,000 > crowd.

Shame the Storm haven't got one either

Titans/Raiders SKILLED - 14,000
Panthers/Broncos CUA - 15,000
Dragons/Knights WIN JUB - 14,000
Rabbits/Beagles ANZ - 18,000
NZW/Roosters MT SMART - 17,000
Sharks/Cows ADELAIDE - 13,000
Eels/Dogs ANZ - 24,000
Tigers/Storm LCHT - 15,000

Don't think next weekend will be that crash hot unless the two ANZ games get some serious Easter Show joint promotion.

Not sure where to post this:

I cannot understand fully the reasons that Melbourne AFL games attaract such large crowds, 50,000 60,000 etc and the best we can do in Sydney for an NRL game is 25,000, with say an average of 15,000.

This may sound a dickhead question, but why the huge difference??

Memberships. Club memberships in the NRL are rarely in excess of 10,000. AFL did massive member drives in the mid 90's and as such have tens of thousands of members, clubs like Collingwood we're talking 30-40k IIRC.

culture i'd say

Oh and they also have a governing body that encourages them to get to the game, rather than one half owned by News ltd that encourages you to buy austar and sit at home and watch the footy

anyway next weekend

Panthers v Broncos @ CUA Stadium - 15,000
Titans v Raiders @ Skilled Park - 21,000
Dragons v Knights @ WIN Jubilee Oval - sold out
Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles @ ANZ Stadium - 20 000
Warriors v Roosters @ Mt Smart Stadium - 18,000
Sharks v Cowboys @ Adelaide - 12,000
Eels v Bulldogs @ ANZ Stadium - 24,000
Tigers v Storm @ Leichhardt - 12000(should be on a sunday, dumb place to have monday football).

Can't see Drags/Knights selling out at 5:30 sat, and I can't see Titans drawing over 20k anymore... not until they drop ticket prices.

no way souths had 10,000 lolll they did turn up but nearly half the ground, no way. There were probably about 5-7k of Rabbits fans but still a good turnout. Also those red shirts across the stadium wont souths fans, they were shirts that read "Strathfield supports the Bulldogs" which were handed out to hundreds of fans lolll

No Way?

Your kidding?

Souths easily had 10,000 fans there.

Most of the 8500 Season Ticket Holders were there plus other souths fans

why is it that people are expecting a crowd of 15k for CUA on Friday?

Last Broncos v Panthers fixture was on a Friday night and only drew 9,963

sure its a different year with Penrith not doing too bad... but i just can't see it drawing over 13k

The corresponding game last year had rep players missing from both sides. That would explain a lot. And Penrith's early season form is OK.
