Only part I find unfair is how long the NRL f**ked around with it, if they had it all done and said by say R3 they would have lost only 4 points. Dragged it out and now there lost 12 points and unless they win every game thats there season done.

Nrls fault for thoroughly investigating the issue before handing out punishment to a club that has systemically cheated the system for a number of years? Due process had to be followed and as unfair as it seems on the current players who for the most part seem innocent, it's not the Nrls fault, it's their club they should be rightly pissed at.

Parra have copped a light penalty Imo. Losing all the points they have accrued with an illegal team is the bare minimum these days. It's not an accidental breach it's years of systematic cheating and it's only through the luck of parra not being good that we don't have a repeat of the storm drama.

500k over is a good player.

It's probably the fairest punishment. Get rid of those who did the rorting and allow them to get points when they are under the cap. I think the NRL have continued to learn from their past mistakes with the punishments handed out. Bulldogs were allowed to keep players and then won a comp so they stopped the Storm from doing so. Melbourne were given no opportunity to play for points even if they got under the cap but have now allowed Parra the opportunity to do so

I have to say I find it quite ridiculous that they are allowed to maintain their for and against.

How is it that they say the points accumulated on the ladder are all null and void as they were obtained with an illegal team, yet the for and against accumulated illegally are OK to stay?

What if these pricks sneak into the 8 on for and against?

Bloody stupid.

It's no much of a punishment for years of cheating. I defended parra before the findings but this is a pretty obvious deliberate breach. They are over this year. They have beaten teams with an illegal side. They have disrupted the season by not being cap compliant.

I understand accidents happen but this has been what three years of cap cheating.

On the football side of things, assuming Parramatta can get their team cap compliant before their next game, two factors that can influence the top 8 "cut off", making it lower than the usual 28 points, are a group of 3-5 dominant teams that are beating most other final contenders (which we seem to have at the moment), and ironically, a team being stripped of points, as the lower pool for the year of total points can make entering the top 8 a bit easier.

So Parramatta may only need 26 (or maybe 24 if really lucky, if the 9th team is a fair way off the pace, which might happen this year) to make the 8, and if they did would obviously have a good chance of being on a higher differential than teams around them, and would probably be in better form than other bottom half of the 8 teams.

So they may only need to win 11 (or 10) of their last 15, which is certainly achievable. They only play Storm, Sharks and Broncos once each out of the other top 5 (counting them as top 5 on wins) teams (unlike the Roosters, in a similar ladder position and supposedly on a comeback in form, who have a terrible run home, playing most of the contenders two times).

The storm being forced to play for no points for a whole season with no recourse was the worst decision the NRL ever made. Got no problem with them trying a different strategy this time. We still can't play for points until we are under the cap and I don't expect these incompetent, deceitful f**ktards to fix that any time soon so our season is over anyway.

Paying some players in cash. THAT IS INSANE!!!

I think this is the biggest scandal of it all. It breaks ATO laws!

Also the other sponsors/suppliers companies falsifying invoices etc, they will face some tough questions as well I'm sure. ATO will be looking on with keen interest.

The whole thing is a joke - the whole salary cap has been a farce since it is has been brought in. But the NRL won't change it (i.e. no TPA) and it is the fans who continue to suffer.

We deserve what we got but really, the fact it has been allowed to happen (and other clubs probably are doing on a smaller scale) is criminal..........officials being de-registered is nothing...........they have thier pay packets protected.

These shit merkins signed Jennings in the off season knowing full well they were over the cap, cheating and under investigation. The punishments light for behaviour like that.

Nah not really a tax issue. Income and expenses both overstated by the same amount so it evens out in the end. ATO won't really care. Only people who could be in trouble are the players if they don't declare the income from the suppliers but I doubt they wouldn't
