Nah not really a tax issue. Income and expenses both overstated by the same amount so it evens out in the end. ATO won't really care. Only people who could be in trouble are the players if they don't declare the income from the suppliers but I doubt they wouldn't

You are probably right but the ato might not consider dodgy payments to players a legitimate deductible expense so there could be a difference.

Still had to get the over-paid amounts out of the company and into the players hands somehow; while the companies may not have directly avoided tax (as you said it evens it out); they were still complicate in arranging to give the players (allegedly) undeclared income.

If the owners of said companies took it out (as their own declared income) and passed it to players in brown (allegedly) paper bags; I wonder if the ATO would be so kind as to allocate those franking credits onto the players when considering their possible undeclared income :p.

I hope in a f**k you to the nrl Arthur tells the players to bring back the biff and throw punches, play dirty do whatever

Or they could actually try to win still. That really would show them!

11 from 15 is doable. I'd like to think my team can win 11 of the next 15, certainly 1 of the top 4 probably will, and Parra are on par with the top 4 so far this year.

I have to say I find it quite ridiculous that they are allowed to maintain their for and against.

How is it that they say the points accumulated on the ladder are all null and void as they were obtained with an illegal team, yet the for and against accumulated illegally are OK to stay?

What if these pricks sneak into the 8 on for and against?

Bloody stupid.

Good point - what they should actually do is strip the For but leave the Against.

This is a minor quirk, but otherwise the penalty is 100% fair.

Wow....Dennis couldn't even wait an hour to dance on the clubs grave....waiting outside the conference to talk himself up as the saviour. What an absolute f**king germ of a human.
I do actually feel for you blokes on this bit. Slimy merkins who dont give a shit about the club and only their own ego. They threw your club under the bus, how do they think people are gonna look at them as saviours???

The problem is that's essentially how you describe every single person involved with the club politically. There is no doubt this all came about because of one of these merkins. Obviously we can't name names here, and obviously we were breaking the rules. But the kind of person who runs at board level is exclusively the kind of person who gleefully leaked this stuff to the media and is watching the club burn to score themselves a little bit of a revenge boner. Makes me sick.

We should have learned from the Qld clubs, couple of houses in Townsville , take cash from the club and then refuse to talk and leave as manager
If none of you self righteous posters don't think this is going on at all clubs, except those controlled by the NRL, I have a bridge to sell you

I think the fairest punishment for fans of not proven to be cheating for years club was the 4 points suspended sentence plus zero points for games they are over.

100% correct, look at ex Brisbane CEO Don NISSEN's evidence during the Gordon Nuttal trial. How nothing was done is beyond amazing.

Did you actually read what happened in NQ you dimwit?

The fact the story died in the ass immediately after it's release once it was ascertained the amount the players paid for the land was exactly the markey value for that area. The stupid bitch who 'broke the news' thought them paying $460k for a house and land package was paying well unders and thought something dodge was going on...... Well it would be well unders if it was in Sydney ffs.

And I agree that most clubs cheat the cap and it's only parras dysfunction that got them caught but signing Jennings while under investigation is beyond the pale.

Just staggering arrogance.
