Greenburg was asked what would happen if "a certain player retired injured" this week.

Response was something along the lines of, we'll look at it to see if it's legit.

I dont think they'll get out of it as easy as Just Choc retiring.

The whole thing is a joke - the whole salary cap has been a farce since it is has been brought in. But the NRL won't change it (i.e. no TPA) and it is the fans who continue to suffer.

We deserve what we got but really, the fact it has been allowed to happen (and other clubs probably are doing on a smaller scale) is criminal..........officials being de-registered is nothing...........they have thier pay packets protected.

You can't stop TPAs it's not an NRL thing it's a fact of life.

Our game is so poorly administered. The salary cap was designed to keep a level playing field and yet it still hasn't. All it's done is brought our game into disrepute with clubs finding ways to rort it with some getting caught.

There has to be a better way.

The guy running the game was a major part of the first team to get caught blatantly cheating the cap.

It's amazing.

Lol. He had nothing to do with the football side of things when he was first at the club. He was operations manager

Salary cap hasn't brought a level playing field?

History is your friend buddy.

1. no repeat premiers in the NRL era

2. 11/16 clubs have won the premiership in the NRL era

3. 13/16 clubs have played in a grand final in the NRL era (sorry sharkies , raiders & titans fans)

I don't think people quite get the concept of TPAs

It's not that hard to get is it?? Toronto Parking Authorities are obviously responsible for setting and enforcing the rules and fee's for designated public parking area's in the greater area of Toronto.

Meanwhile im England 50 million pommy heads are exploding at the moment that a team that isn't chelsea or from Manchester has won the league

What the heck are you on about?

The Toronto Parking Authority has jurisdiction all across the state of Ontario

I think your getting mixed up with the Toronto Port Authority, which indeed does have jurisdiction across the states major ports. You'll find the Toronto Parking Authority covers greater area of Toronto and including Scarborough, York, North York, Etobicoke following amalgamation with the North York Parking Authority in the early 2000's.

When did Canberra play in a grand final?

Some clubs have been in the top half of the competition for the majority of the seasons since 1998 which are ironically the richer clubs.

Yep definitely level playing field.

Missed Canberra , doesn't change the overall point.

Yes some clubs do make the finals more often than others , there's more to winning than the salary cap, but it still helps.

The salary cap does an ok job at present. It keeps teams from going bankrupt too. Some people need to be protected from themselves lol.

With tpas increasing and now just being used as salary cap topups it could be a worrying future for some teams. That said parra got a really soft penalty so why not cheat the cap

Time to open this shit up. Third club to cop it since 2004. Folks may think if the club is willing to take the risk, they should suffer the consequences, but this looks awful for the game itself.

NFL is as transparent as you can get. Salaries are made public. NRL needs to head down this route if it intends to be serious about eradicating salary cap cheating from the game. that or, actually be vigilant about monitoring it which could take a heap of resources. waiting until there is a sniff of an issue to delve deeper into club accounts is basically asking for trouble.
