You were treated very well by the nrl. Stand strong behind your team as Storm supporters stood by our team in tough times. I have become a louder prouder Storm member from 2010.

Yeah but how often do you hear players whinge that they want to live in Sydney (for some reason) and they take shitter contracts just to do so.

It's very rare that the reasonable cost of living in NQ has helped them build a strong team. They were perennial bottom-feeders for decades!

It might have seemed like decades, but it was only about 7 years they were anchored in the bottom 4. For a couple of years they challenged for the finals but didn't make it, then on their 10th season they made the preliminary final (and were dudded), and the following year the Grand Final. Their gestation period as a premiership force was nowhere near as long as many other clubs.

Because there is no guarantee they would have won. I bet all the other teams who have yet to play Parra would be real happy with that happening.

I think each team that has played the Eels & lost, should get 1 point...bit of a compromise.

If they'd played a fair team, they may we'll have won.

2008-2010 was a pretty shit period as well

Cowboys haven't gone out and bought superstars like other teams do. Everything has been earned.

Greenburg on Talkin' Sport says the Eels may be able to deregister Watmough off the salary cap as an injured player to free some cap space - they would treat the application on its merits.

Eels would be blessed if they get away with that.

If he was deregistered rather than medically retired, would he losecout on money though? He may be unwilling to do so, if that is the case.

Even if Watmong is excluded, it will only be half his contract value at this point. The storm took Morgan on a loan, they wont be generous and take his contract on so that wont help. Still gonna take some effort to get under the cap.

There is still the Hoppa situation as well, if he wins in court does that come out of their cap?

Lets all give a hand to Ian Schubert as well. Brought on to audit their cap, and just as always found nothing. How this merkin gets work is beyond me.

Nah the hoppa stuff even though it clearly should be salary cap the nrl has ruled is going to be treated separate.

Parra fans should be f**king over the moon tbh. They have been hit by a feather

maybe so but all the ability to accrue points and still 'potentially' reach the finals does is create false hope so we have our hearts broken twice. we aren't winning 12 from 15.

apart from that, im not too sure how much harder we should have been hit?

OK so 10 seasons is a drought for the Broncos and they have made the finals every season except 2010.

Sharks have a financial windfall with their property development and have recruited well off the back of that.

During Manly's reign they had just killed off the Bears and had a huge investor in Delmege.

When Souffs won the comp Rusty had just pumped a lot of money into the club & paying off debt. They are a poor club.

Storm top 4 mainstays during their salary cap breaches.

Bulldogs same as above.

**Edit** Roosters have a huge investors and making finals almost every season.

See a pattern yet?

The property development at the Sharks has little to nothing to do with recruitment. A rich club is one that has great facilities away from the footy field.

Manly have never had good training facilities , delmege investment was in buying the club.

You bring up Souths and yet they are struggling this year despite being a rich club.

You contended that rich clubs will always be at the top of the table no matter the salary cap , that's patently false

Souths & Roosters , both rich & both bottom 8

Raiders & Panthers both rich & both middle table

The NRL is one of the most even comps on earth , you're deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

On top of what has been decided already, a salary cap penalty of 100% of the amount by which the cap was exceeded for the remainder of this season and next (no competition points until compliance is reached), reducing by 20% per season after that, indexed to rises in the cap.

My concern is that the club can shed players who are injured or out of form in order to comply with the cap this year, which other clubs could not do. So the Eels are still advantaged if they are on the same cap as everyone else.

oh shit yeah

haven't made the finals since 2009 and won the spoon in 2012 and 2013

we should be pulling our dicks

Cheated the cap as badly as the storm did in 07 this year and are still able to compete for the premiership? Thats soft. Also have been cheating since 2013

Losing the points for the games they illegally won is the absolute bare minimum. Considering the nrl is letting you guys get away with the hoppa stuff if the courts find against you and will probably let you guys be compliant with watmough id say yeah you should be extremely happy with the result
